With one possible exception, in the suborder Strepsirrhini , which includes lemur s, galago s and Lorisidae lorises , the grooming claw is on the second toe. The possible exception is the aye aye , which has claws instead of nails on toes 2 through 5. There is some debate concerning whether any of these claws and if so which ones are grooming claws. Fact date September 2008 Less commonly known, a grooming claw is also found on the second pedal digit of owl monkey s Aotus , titi s Callicebus , and possibly other New World monkey s. ref name Maiolino cite doi 10.1002 ar.21498 ref The first toe is the large one, the equivalent of a human Hallux big toe . Like a claw or a nail, the grooming claw is also made of keratin . It resembles a claw in both its lateral compression and longitudinal curvature. An early claw hammer is seen in Albrecht D rer s etching Melencolia I , dated 1514, halfway up the left side. There are several nails in the lower right corner. In actuality, the head of the hammer does not form a straight line, but curves down into the claw of the hammer. One side of the head is flat with either a smooth or textured surface and is used for impacting another surface. The other side of the head curves down and splits in the middle forming a V shape. This part is the claw of the hammer and is most commonly used for extracting nails from wood. Claw Money, whose first name is Claudia, was born into a Jewish family in Fresh Meadows, Queens and Roslyn, New York and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology until she dropped out in 1986. Through the late 1980s and early 1990s her icon, a fat paw with three claws, could be seen all over the New York graffiti landscape, as she bombed walls and trains with the graffiti crews TC5 and FC at a time when the scene was dominated by men. She has been influenced by numerous other graffiti artists such as Zephyr, Dondi, Revolt, Sharp, Dontay, Devo and MQ. Zephyr especially had an influence because they were friends and he showed her some of New York s most illusive outlaw artists.
