A triptych combines three formal elements more commonly used in painting , and this sculptural grouping was first used by Jon Edgar for the Environment Triptych of 2008, after the combination of three heads seemed to create a composition which added another dimension to the work. Unreferenced date December 2009 The title Baron Compton was created in the Peerage of England for the Tudor period Tudor politician, Henry Compton, 1st Baron Compton Sir Henry Compton . In 1618, his son was created Earl of Northampton . The titles remained united until the fifth earl died without any male heirs in 1754 and the title passed to his only daughter, Charlotte Townshend, 15th Baroness Ferrers of Chartley Charlotte , who had already inherited the title of Baroness Ferrers of Chartley from her mother in 1740.
