The Hypogeum of the Volumnus family Italian Ipogeo dei Volumni is an Etruscans Etruscan tomb in Ponte San Giovanni, a suburb of Perugia , central Italy . Its dating is uncertain, although it is generally assigned to the 3rd century BC. It was the Roman Etruscan tomb of Arnth Veltimna Aules, and belonged to the larger necropolis area of Palazzone 6th 5th century BC , with numerous subterranean tombs and museum collecting urns and other items found in the excavations of the area. The tomb is accessed through a staircase which leads to several meters under the surface, with a gate leading to the interior, followed by a vestibule architecture vestibule . This in turn leads to four small side chambers and three larger central on es. One of the latter housed the remains of the family s main members. Arnth s urn is in travertine , surmounted by a representation of the defunct lying on a triclinium . The tomb was used up to the 1st century BC. The Chav n religion was the first major religious and cultural movement in the Andes mountains, flourishing between 900 BC 900 and 200 BC E. The Lanz n takes its name from the Spanish language Spanish word for lance, an allusion to the shape of the sculpture. The Lanz n is housed in the central cruciform chamber of a labyrinthine series of underground passages in the Old Temple of the ceremonial and religious center of Chav n de Huantar . Devotees would be led into the maze of pitch black tunnels, eventually coming face to face with the sculpture s snarling mouth and upturned eyes. The worshipers disorientation, in addition to the hallucinogenic effects of the San Pedro cactus they were given before entering, only heightened the visual and psychological impact of the sculpture. The central image of the Lanzon functions as axis mundi , or pivot linking the heavens, earth and underworld. Position within the building also suggests centrality of image. The television show Ghost Hunters International recently made a trip to Chavin and the Lanz n and recorded odd heartbeat like sounds coming from the stone on a piezoelectric microphone and had odd experiences with other equipment that could not be explained. The Assassination of Wild Bill Hickok On the evening of August 1, 1876 , Wild Bill Hickok was playing poker with a group of men. One of the men, Jack McCall , had been playing poorly and after losing his final hand, Wild Bill returned some of his losings and suggested he get something to eat with the money. It is believed that McCall took this gesture to be condescending. The next day, Wild Bill entered the Nuttall & Mann s saloon and while drinking at the bar, was invited to join the poker game. Wild Bill always preferred to sit with his back against the wall to avoid being vulnerable to attack from an adversary. However the only seat available in the game had its back to the door of the saloon. He asked one of the players, Charlie Rich, to switch seats but was refused and so reluctantly took the available seat. Subsequently, McCall entered the saloon, calmly walked up behind Wild Bill and shouted Take that as he shot him in the back of the head with a .45 Colt .45 caliber Revolver Double action double action revolver . The bullet exited through Wild Bill s cheek and hit Captain Massie, another poker player, in the wrist. McCall fled, and a few people attempted to revive Wild Bill, although such attempts were ultimately futile, as he likely died instantly from the bullet wound to the head.
