It is calculated as d Z hit rate Z false alarm rate , where function Z p , p &isin 0,1 , is the inverse of the Normal distribution Cumulative distribution function cumulative Gaussian distribution . 1. +D

The D or Plus D was a floppy disk and computer printer printer Electrical connector interface for the Sinclair Research Sinclair ZX Spectrum home computer , developed as a successor to Miles Gordon Technology s earlier product, the DISCiPLE . It was designed to be smaller, cheaper, simpler and thus more reliable. It discarded a number of the less important features of the earlier product the computer network network and joystick ports, the inhibit button and the pass through connector and replaced its ancestor s plastic wedge shaped design which fit under the Spectrum with a simple flat metal slab which protruded from the rear of the computer. It provided only floppy disk and Centronics parallel interfaces, plus a non maskable interrupt button. The D s casing was simple folded steel, which was not only stronger than before but acted as a heatsink, improving reliability. Apart from the missing ports, though, it was software compatible with the larger device. The D s disk operating system DOS was named G DOS , and was compatible with the DISCiPLE s DOS, GDOS . SAM DOS for MGT s SAM Coup was backwards compatible with GDOS and G DOS. 1. Bus-holder

Image Bus holder circuit.svg thumb right The two inverters form a delay that holds the previous state of the bus and drives it back through a resistor. A bus holder or Bus keeper is a weak latch Electronic circuit circuit which holds last value on a tri state logic tri state bus . The circuit is basically a delay element with the output connected back to the input through a relatively high impedance. This is usually achieved with two inverter electrical inverters connected back to back. The resistor drives the bus weakly therefore other circuits can override the value of the bus when they are not in tri state mode. Bus holders are used to prevent CMOS gate inputs from getting floating values when they are connected to tri stated nets. Otherwise both transistors in the gate could get turned on, thus shorting the power supply and ground, which would destroy the CMOS gate. This is prevented by the bus holder pulling the input to the last valid logic level 0 or 1 on the net. The circuit is usually placed in parallel with the tri stated net. References A. P. Godse, D. A. 1. Bus sniffing

Bus sniffing or Bus snooping is a technique used in distributed shared memory systems and multiprocessors to achieve cache coherence . Although there is one main memory, there are several caches one per processor , and unless preventative steps are taken, the same memory location may be loaded into two caches, and given two different values. To prevent this, every cache controller monitors the bus, listening for broadcasts which may cause it to invalidate its cache line. Each cache line is in one of the following states dirty has been updated by local processor , valid , invalid or shared . The set of operations is thus a value can be read or written. Writing it changes the value. Each value is either in main memory which is very slow to access , or in one or more local caches which is fast . When a block is first loaded in the cache it is marked valid . On a read miss to the local cache, the read request is broadcast on the bus. All cache controllers monitor the bus. If one has cached that address and it is in the state dirty , it changes the state to valid and sends the copy to requesting node. The valid state means that the cache line is current. On a local write miss an attempt to write that value is made, but it s not in the cache , bus snooping ensures that any copies in other caches are set to invalid . Invalid means that a copy used to exist in the cache, but it is no longer ...
