    Image Dcf77.jpg thumb 220px Mainflingen longwave transmitter Mainflingen longwave transmitter is a large facility for commercial longwave transmissions at Mainflingen , Hesse , Germany , which was built in 1956. It uses several T and triangle antennas, which are mounted on guyed masts of lattice steel, insulated against ground. The used masts have heights between 150 and 200 metres. Southeast of the main antenna area, which is completely fenced in, but still north of the motorway A3 there is a further T antenna, which is mounted on two guyed masts of lattice steel insulated against ground. Further there is a tower built of prefabricated concrete segments for mobile phone services close to the transmitter building. All transmitters using the facility have a call sign starting with DCF. The best known of them is DCF77 . In earlier times the facility was also used for longwave broadcasting, especially as backup transmitter for Sender Donebach . The facility, which is the property of Media Broadcast , was built between 1965 and 1967 on a former airfield and entered service on March 10, 1967. As aerial was used in those days an omnidirectional aerial consisting of four 200 metre high radio masts, which were connected via wires on their tops. From these masts the mast in the middle was fed via radio power. This very efficient transmission aerial led to interferences of the Romanian transmitter Bra ov, working on the same frequency and so only a power of 70 kilowatts instead of 250 kilowatts was possible. But even with these reduced power jammings of Bra ov occurred, so 1972 the radio facility Donebach was rebuilt as a directional aerial with a minimum toward Bra ov. Therefore two radio masts were demounted and the two others were rebuilt as umbrella aerials. Now a transmission power of 250 kilowatts was possible. The Waveplan of Geneva in 1975 set now power limits to the transmitter Donebach and now there was a daytime operation with 500 kilowatts and a nighttime operation at nighttime. Wave Ceptor watches are able to calibrate themselves to the correct time by receiving time signal s from various government time services around the world. These signals are normally driven directly by ultra accurate atomic clock s, and so by synchronizing with the signals, the Wave Ceptor watches achieve long term accuracy the same accuracy as the atomic clocks that drive the time signals, which is on the order of one second in three million years. The Wave Ceptor watches are not the only radio controlled wristwatches on the market. The German manufacturer Junghans and Japanese manufacturer Citizen Watch Co. also have this feature. Like most radio controlled watches, the Wave Ceptor watches require no setting or resetting of time, date, daylight saving time , or year and like most other watches of this kind, they synchronize at least every 24 hours, usually in the middle of the night.
