Birth and Early Life Kimhi was born around 1127, the eldest son of Joseph Kimhi and the brother of DavidKimhi , known as the RaDaK . He was born and lived in the Hachmei Provence Provence region of southern France , and area that was heavily under the influence of the Spanish Jewish community of that time. Little else is known of his early life. Adulthood He apparently raised his younger brother David following the death of their father, and was a major influence in his commentaries. Career as a Commentator Like his father, he wrote a number of commentaries on the Bible, basing himself on the literal meaning of the text. No footnotes date August 2011 Solomon Kimhi was a Turkey Turkish rabbi nical author who lived at Istanbul Constantinople in the middle of the nineteenth century. In 1862 he published Meleket Shelomoh , in which he tried to prove that the Karaite s are animals, that it is forbidden to teach them the Torah Law , and that it is permitted to kill them. When the Karaites protested, the chief rabbi of Constantinople commanded that all the copies of the work which could be found should be burned. Biography Alona Kimhi was born in Lvov , Ukraine then in the Soviet Union , in 1966 and Aliyah emigrated to Israel with her family in 1972. Following her graduation from the Beit Zvi Academy for Performing Arts, she became a stage and film actress. In 1993, Kimhi started writing plays, lyrics and essays. Since 1996, she has published two novels, a collection of short stories and a book for children. She also wrote the lyrics to many of her partner Izhar Ashdot s songs. In 2009, her novel Weeping Susanna was dramatized as a miniseries for the Israeli cable TV channel Hot 3 . Her books have been published in 14 languages.
