She studied ballet throughout her childhood and at age 18 moved to New York to study on scholarship at the School of American Ballet . After one year in New York, Allard began dancing professionally with the Chicago Opera Ballet , the Radio City Music Hall corps de ballet, as well as several touring companies. She then pursued a career as a soloist throughout Europe , spending much of her time on contract in Gothenburg , Sweden , where she retired in 1944. After retirement, she became a dance teacher and exercise therapist for heart and lung patients. Allard married Ingemar Larsson in 1974 and currently resides in Stockholm , Sweden.
