It is maintained by the Newport News Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism . It is located on Convert 13.3 acre m2 at the southern end of Denbigh Boulevard. Features The boat ramp is the main feature of Denbigh Park. It allows access into the Warwick River Virginia Warwick River , a tributary of the James River Virginia James River . The parking lot provides space for dozens of trucks and boat trailers to be parked. The ramp and parking lot are open from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m., seven days a week. Denbigh Park features a short hiking trail . Both ends of the trail meet at the park s parking lot. The trail takes about 10 to 15 minutes to navigate from one end to the other, and offers a view of some of the marsh land prevalent in the area. Due to the park s location in a quiet residential area, the presence of wildlife is greater than it would be in a park located in the more urban areas of the city. Small fish can be seen in a stream that the trail passes over, as well as crab s. The trails, like most hiking trails in the Newport News Parks system, are open from sunrise to sunset. The park also offers a small fishing pier , that can accommodate approximately a dozen fishing enthusiasts simultaneously. This pier offers fishing from a saltwater tributary of the James River.     Image Norman Denbigh Riley00.jpg thumb Norman Denbigh Riley CBE 26 September 1890 London 26 May 1979 was a British entomologist with a special interest in the Lepidoptera and in particular the Lycaenidae . For many years he was Keeper of Entomology at the British Museum . His first schooling took place at Dulwich College where his interest in Natural History and Lepidoptera became evident. Richard South , the prominent entomologist was the Riley family s neighbour in Balham, London Balham and encouraged Norman Riley in his hobby. After finishing school Riley enrolled at the Imperial College in order to take a course in entomology, and managed to find work there as a demonstrator under Ray Lankester , who was then Director of the British Museum. At age 21 he was appointed as an Assistant in the Entomology Department. With the outbreak of World War I war in 1914, Riley joined the Royal Army Service Corps , and saw service in France. At the end of the war he was discharged with the rank of Captain and resumed his work at the Museum, becoming Keeper of Entomology in 1932. He became dedicated to acquiring gifts and purchases of specimens to expand the collection of the Museum, and succeeded in creating a research resource of international renown.
