Denis Archie Ducharme born March 14, 1955, Bonnyville, Alberta Bonnyville , Alberta , Canada is a former Alberta n Member of the Legislative Assembly MLA . From April 6 until December 15, 2006, he also served as Minister of Community Development Alberta Minister of Community Development . He did not seek re election in the Alberta general election, 2008 2008 election . He was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly on March 11, 1997 defeating Alberta Liberal Party Liberal incumbent Leo Vasseur in the new riding of Bonnyville Cold Lake . He was re elected to his second term on March 12, 2001, and to his third term on November 22, 2004. Jean Marie Ducharme July 19, 1723 &ndash July 20, 1807 was a fur trade r and political figure in Lower Canada . He was born in Lachine, Quebec in 1723, the son of a farmer there who also was involved in the fur trade. He entered the fur trade in the southwest. He helped establish the France French establish Fort Duquesne near the current site of Pittsburgh . After the Kingdom of Great Britain British took control of Province of Quebec 1763 1791 Quebec , Ducharme began operating near what is now Green Bay, Wisconsin , then known as La Baye. In 1763, he transported ammunition to Michilimackinac , contravening a British ban. He was later arrested and imprisoned at Montreal . In 1772, Ducharme was trading with the Osage Nation Little Osages on the Missouri River , leading to an attempt by the Spain Spanish to capture him his furs were confiscated, but Ducharme managed to escape to Montreal. He continued to trade in the La Baye area. He was arrested by the British after the American Revolution for selling supplies to the United States Americans . Ducharme became a partner in a general store set up at Michilimackinac in 1779. In 1779 80, he helped lead a British expedition against the Spanish at St. Louis, Missouri St. Louis . After he retired from the fur trade, Ducharme represented Montreal County, Quebec Montreal County in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1796 to 1800. He died at Lachine in 1807. His son Dominique Ducharme Dominique also entered the fur trade and later served with distinction during the War of 1812. He studied with Paul Letondal and Charles Wugk Sabatier in Canada before studying for 5 years at the Conservatoire de Paris in France with Antoine Marmontel and Fran ois Bazin . In Europe he became acquainted with several notable musicians who influenced his piano and organ technique, including Franz Liszt and Camille Saint Sa ns .
