  1. Trade directory

Refimprove date December 2010 A trade directory is a collection of supplier s and manufacturer s. This directory includes the businesses name, address, phone number s and contact name s of key people within the organization. Trade directories can come in a variety of formats and can be focused on a particular industry , geographical region or a specific Product business product . Purpose The advantage of using a trade directory is that a purchaser can review hundreds or thousands of suppliers efficiently and in a timely manner. This is especially beneficial in commodity based industries where companies are competing on the basis of cost . Many trade directories are developed by, or in cooperation with, trade associations. However, trade directories are not necessarily comprehensive or up to date, and may omit businesses or other information. In fact, certain trade directories may only contain members or other affiliations, rather than the entire set of industry participants. An example of a trade directory is The Little Blue Book , a directory of physicians in a metro area. The book is organized by name, location, specialty and other factors, making it easier for doctors and medical offices to make referrals and contact each other. ref name The Little Blue Book cite web title The Little Blue Book url http www.tlbb.com 2011 12 accessdate 3 June 2011 ref Another example is Kelly s Directory . This is a list of biodiversity databases . Biodiversity databases store taxonomy taxonomic information which provide information on the biodiversity of a particular area or group of living organisms. They may store specimen level information, species level information, information on nomenclature, or any combination of the above. Most are available online. Specimen focused databases contain data about individual specimens, as represented by vouchered museum specimens, collections of specimen photographs, data on field based specimen observations and morphological or genetic data. Species focused databases contain information summarised at the species level. Some species focused databases attempt to compile comprehensive data about particular species FishBase , while others focus on particular species attributes, such as checklists of species in a given area FEOW or the conservation status of species CITES or IUCN Red List . Nomenclators act as summaries of taxonomic revisions and set a key between specimen focused and species focused databases. 1. Restricting Access to Databases

Orphan date February 2009 Restricting access to production databases is a requirement of Sarbanes Oxley Act sections 302, 404, and is included in the COBIT framework. Restricting access Steps to restrict database access within an organization Implement Separation of duties SOD a preventive control. Establish test and production environments which is preventive control. Restrict user account and Database administrator access which is a preventive control. Turn on audit trails, monitoring software, or exception reports which are detective controls. Elements to restrict include br Data access Successful Failed Selects Data Changes Insert, Update, Delete System Access Successful Failed Logins User Role Permissions Password changes Privileged User Activity All Schema Changes Create Drop Alter Tables, Columns, Fields Controls Compensating Controls Exploiting technology known as triggers. Triggers are user written code, or DBA written code, that gets inserted into the database and gets executed whenever an insert or an update or a delete occurs. br Cons br a. Transaction performance could suffer. br b. This solution does not provide 100 assurances of an incorruptible audit trail. br c. Triggers can be modified by anyone who has the appropriate privileges. Implement application based auditing. br Con br Effective only if no other application or utility can access the database s . Perform auditing on a per database, per table, per column, or per user basis. br Con br Labor intensive for IT. Would require a manual review the audit report and verify before after what was changed and sign off that the change was authorized and acceptable. 1. List of neuroscience databases

A number of online neuroscience databases are available which provide information regarding gene expression , neurons , macroscopic brain structure, and neurological or psychiatric disorders. While some databases contain descriptive and numerical data, others include postmortem brain sections or 3D MRI and fMRI images. A list that is regularly updated can be found at the http neuinfo.org nif nifgwt.html?query database&tab registry Neuroscience Information Framework database list , which contains over 2200 databases relevant to neuroscience. Try to add alphabetically to the table, or add to the other databases section and someone else will hopefully integrate it into the table. It is best if we have a small number of categories to the Data and Level section so ordering the table by this parameter is meaningful.
