Protein ligand docking is a molecular modelling technique. The goal of protein ligand docking is to predict the position and orientation of a ligand biochemistry ligand a small molecule when it is bound to a protein receptor or enzyme. Pharmaceutical research employs docking techniques for a variety of purposes, most notably in the virtual screening of large databases of available chemicals in order to select likely drug candidates. Several protein ligand docking software applications are available, such as AutoDock or http www3.interscience.wiley.com cgi bin abstract 114195671 ABSTRACT EADock . There are also web service http www.dockingserver.com Molecular Docking Server , http swissdock.vital it.ch SwissDock that calculate the site, geometry and energy of small molecules interacting with proteins. Protein flexibility Computational capacity has increased dramatically over the last decade making possible the use of more sophisticated and computationally intensive methods in computer assisted drug design. However, dealing with receptor flexibility in docking methodologies is still a thorny issue. The main reason behind this difficulty is the large number of degrees of freedom that have to be considered in this kind of calculations. However, neglecting it leads to poor docking results in terms of binding pose prediction in real world settings. ref name Cerqueira Cite journal author Cerqueira NM, Fernandes PA, Eriksson LA, Ramos MJ title MADAMM A multistaged docking with an automated molecular modeling protocol journal Proteins Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics volume 74 issue 1 pages 192 206 year 2009 month July doi 10.1002 prot.22146 pmid 18618708 ref See also Docking molecular Virtual screening External links http users.ox.ac.uk jesu1458 installation of autodock on ubuntu ... distribution of docking software AutoDock and MGLTools on http wiki.debian.org AutoDock Debian References Reflist DEFAULTSORT Protein Ligand Docking Category Molecular modelling Category Computational ... more details

Transposition, docking, and extraction abbreviated to TD&E , often just transposition and docking is a space rendezvous Orbital maneuver maneuver performed during the Apollo program Apollo lunar missions of the 1960s and 70s. It was performed after the trans lunar injection burn that placed the Apollo spacecraft on the trajectory towards the moon, but before reaching the Moon or attaining lunar orbit . Performing TD&E It was performed by the Apollo Command Service Module Command Module pilot although as a contingency, the Apollo Lunar Module Lunar Module pilot and commander were also trained to perform the maneuver , and involved separating the Apollo Command Service Module CSM from the S IVB , Flight dynamics pitching the CSM 180 and proceeding to dock with the Apollo Lunar Module Lunar Module , by inserting a probe at the top the CSM into a drogue at the top of the Lunar Module. Then, the Apollo spacecraft stack would separate from the S IVB , which would then either continue on to a heliocentric orbit or be deliberately steered into a crash landing on the Moon. Missions Image Apollo 15 TandD.ogg thumb right TD&E on Apollo 15 , performed by Alfred Worden Al Worden TD&E was performed on all Apollo missions from Apollo 9 onward, as these flights carried the LM. The maneuver was first practiced on the earth orbiting Apollo 7 flight, but the S IVB utilized a LM fairing adapter that did not separate from the S IVB, thus the crew could not approach the S IVB in fear that the adapter petals would strike the Apollo CSM. This was corrected with all flights commencing with Apollo 8 when the fairing petals would fall away from the S IVB. ref cite web url http answers.yahoo.com question ... and docking manoeuvre ? publisher Yahoo Answers date February 2008 accessdate May 29, 2008 ... to extract the docking adapter used to link up the Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft Soyuz 19 spacecraft ... links http history.nasa.gov ap15fj 03tde.htm Apollo 15 Flight Journal Transposition, Docking and Extraction ... more details
