The plant was originally opened in 1980 operating as a kill facility. In 1983 the plant expanded and opened a fabrication floor. In 2005 a state of the art hamburger grind facility was added. The plant employs close to 2700 employees,the largest employer in DodgeCity . About 5,800 6,000 cattle are slaughtered daily and about 1.5 million head are processed per year. Unreferenced date December 2009 The DodgeCity Gang were a group of Kansas gunfighter s and gamblers who dominated the political and economic life of Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1879 and early 1880. This came at a time when Las Vegas was booming and was thought to be the future metropolis of New Mexico. As with many a boomtown , it attracted a number of opportunists and outlaws. Organization The gang was composed largely of fighters from the recent Railroad Wars of Raton, New Mexico , and Royal Gorge , Colorado . These included John Joshua Webb , Dave Rudabaugh Dirty Dave Rudabaugh , and Mysterious Dave Mather . The gang was a loose knit association, and its putative leader was Hyman Neill, better known as Hoodoo Brown , who had secured the position of justice of the peace. Doc Holliday was in town and was friendly with gang members, though he is not generally listed as a member. The gang managed to get members or friends into local law enforcement positions, with the idea being, for the most part, that their actions were to control the gambling establishments and rake in huge profits. Some members, notably Dave Rudabaugh, seemed unsatisfied with this and were suspected of several stagecoach robberies and other criminal acts. The town s rough reputation drew a number of lawless characters. Billy the Kid passed through in 1879, as did Jesse James , though neither was ever a part of the gang. A local legend has the two famous outlaws meeting for dinner in the Old Adobe Hotel in nearby Hot Springs, New Mexico . DodgeCity Productions DCP were a British hip hop Acid jazz group based in London formed by IG Culture real name Ian Grant and DJ Dodge real name Roger Drakes . They were one of the leaders of the Acid Jazz movement, and also received much acclaim and success for their remixes, usually done as City Lick . The group split in the early 1990s, and both members went to have further success in the music industry as solo artists. History The group formed in 1991, and signed to the 4th & Broadway record label, their first release being the single Ain t Going For That 4th & Broadway, 1992 . Further singles followed, and then the group released their debut album Steppin Up and Out 4th and Broadway, 1993 . At this time, the British scene was split between the hardcore music of groups like Hardnoise and Gunshot Group Gunshot and the more Jazz influenced style of groups like the Young Disciples or Outlaw Posse , often referred to as Acid Jazz. DCP had strong ties to the British hip hop scene, and the album featured guest vocals from Bello B of Outlaw Posse and MCM of Caveman Hip Hop Caveman . The group were also much in demand as remixers, providing remixes under the name of City Lick for respected artists like Gang Starr and Digital Underground .
