primary sources date August 2009 Dvorak is a customizable card game that begins with a deck of blank index cards. These index cards or pieces of paper or cardboard are written and drawn upon by players before or during the game. Alternatively, games of Dvorak can be played online via a MUSH or the Thoth card game engine. Rules The game revolves around two types of cards Actions, which are discarded when played, and Things, which remain in play on the table in front of whoever played them. The winner is determined by the rules of the deck being used. Winning often requires a player to achieve a certain goal or play a certain card, but every deck is different. Some decks allow players to be eliminated in these, the winner is usually the last player remaining. Creating cards Image Dvorak card.jpg thumb right An example card from a game of Dvorak Decks are made either before or during a game. When a card is created it is immediately shown to all players for their approval, halting play if necessary. A card is shuffled into the draw pile if it s accepted unanimously if not, it is rejected and is set aside without affecting the game. If opposing sides refuse to approve individual cards, multiple cards may be lumped together into a single approve or reject vote. Playing To start a game, shuffle the cards into a face down draw pile and clear a space for the face up discard pile to come. Deal five cards to each player, then decide who goes first, via rock paper scissors , flipping a coin , rolling a Dice die , etc. Play proceeds clockwise unless the deck or a card states otherwise until someone wins. This method is popular in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Simplified Cangjie is one of the few input methods which has an Input Method Editor IME pre installed on Chinese capable personal computers. In Standard Cantonese Cantonese speaking Hong Kong , average computer users tend to prefer Simplified Cangjie over the full Cangjie largely due to its ease of use, and also the lack of other input methods available that matches its popularity with it being pre installed IME on most Microsoft Windows Windows operating systems. Since Chinese phonology is not taught in schools in Hong Kong Citation needed date November 2008 and Cantonese is more tonal than Standard Mandarin Mandarin Putonghua , phonetic based input methods designed for Mandarin speakers such as zhuyin are not widely used. While having an easier learning curve and generally considered as a more error forgiving input method, in the long term Simplified Cangjie users have slower typing speed compare to full Cangjie, because the user chooses from a list of candidate of characters. On the other hand, using Simplified Cangjie also discourages the user from learning the full Cangjie. Many simplified Cangjie users do not understand how to code a character without the disambiguation lists. of the PLUM and Dvorak keyboards, the Dvorakkeyboard is more mainstream, but the PLUM keyboard has a keyboard layout that many find more memorable, with the rows spelling out the words PLUM and READONTHIS ...The PLUM keyboard is computer keyboard which varies from the traditional QWERTY keyboard in both physical key layout and letter arrangement. Unlike most keyboards, the PLUM keyboard organizes keys in a square grid, as opposed to the staggered rows of a typewriter. Though the Plum Keyboard is currently off line, it is still being promoted. Also, the purpose of the product is to teach non typists how to type and not to encourage Qwerty users to switch. The ergonomic advantages are secondary to the incredibly short learning curve. New typists learning Qwerty can typically expect a 4 to 6 week learning curve, whereas new typists learning Plum can touch type within two weeks. This is possible because Plum incoporates mnemonics to assist the learner. READONTHIS is not only easily remembered, they are the ten most frequently used keys and make up the home row where the fingers rest, thus minimizing finger movement. The Plum layout also gives equal time to each hand. With Qwerty, the left hand does 70 of the work, while the right hand does only 30 . It is notable that the Enter key has moved to a half length spacebar position alongside the spacebar itself. Each is now used by one thumb alone left for Enter and right for Space .
