  1. Dwarf star

The term dwarf star refers to a variety of distinct classes of star s. Dwarf star alone generally refers to any main sequence main sequence star, a star of Stellar classification Yerkes spectral classification luminosity class V. Red dwarf s are low mass main sequence stars. Yellow dwarf s are main sequence dwarf stars with masses comparable to that of the Sun . The Sun is a yellow dwarf. A Blue dwarf red dwarf stage blue dwarf is a low mass star which is hypothesized to be the post main sequence form of a red dwarf. A white dwarf is a star composed of electron degenerate matter , thought to be the final stage in the evolution of stars not massive enough to undergo a Type II supernova &mdash stars less massive than roughly 9 solar mass es. A black dwarf refers to a white dwarf that has cooled sufficiently such that it no longer emits any visible light. A brown dwarf is a sub stellar object not massive enough to ever fuse hydrogen into helium , but still massive enough to fuse deuterium &mdash less than about 0.08 solar masses and more than about 13 Jupiter masses. 1. Black dwarf

Other uses star nav A black dwarf is a hypothetical stellar remnant , created when a white dwarf becomes sufficiently cool to no longer emit significant heat or light . Since the time required for a white dwarf to reach this state is calculated to be longer than the current age of the universe 13.7 billion years , no black dwarfs are expected to exist in the universe yet, and the temperature of the coolest white dwarfs is one observational limit on the age of the universe . A white dwarf is what remains of a main sequence star of low or medium mass below approximately 9 to 10 solar mass es , after it has either expelled or nuclear fusion fused all the chemical element element s which it has sufficient temperature to fuse. ref § 3, cite journal author Heger, A.
