Ealing Common is a large open space approx 47 acres in Ealing , west London , bounded by Gunnersbury Ave A406 to the east and the Uxbridge Road to the north. A smaller area of the common extends to the east of Gunnersbury Ave, including Leopold Road. The western boundary includes The Common and Warwick Dene, with Elm Avenue to the south. It is common land as designated by the 1866 Metropolitan Commons Act. Southall Studios was a film studio located in Southall , Middlesex in West End of London West London which operated between 1924 and 1958. The studio was constructed on the site of a former air hangar by the silent film director and producer G.B. Samuelson . The original buildings were destroyed in a fire in 1936, but the studio was subsequently rebuilt. Following the Second World War a number of feature films were made at Southall, which was under the overall control of John Grierson , as well as television programmes such as Colonel March of Scotland Yard . Ealing Common Depot is a London Underground railway depot on the District Line , located between Acton Town Acton Town Station and Ealing Common Ealing Common Station . It is accessed by road on Granville Gardens, off the Uxbridge Road in Ealing Common. From the main line District it is accessed at Ealing Common tube station Ealing Common by a junction immediately to the East of the platforms. Trains can enter or leave the depot to from either the Westbound or Eastbound tracks at Ealing Common tube station Ealing Common . It is also accessed at the Acton Town tube station Acton Town end through a junction just to the West of Acton Town eastbound platforms. Trains can enter or leave the depot to from either the local or fast eastbound platforms, however trains in either of the westbound platforms at Acton Town tube station Acton Town have no access to from the depot. Piccadilly line trains were stabled here until 1964. At the same time, the District line ceased stabling at Northfields. On the eastern side of the depot, access is only possible by foot, not road vehicle. However there is a separate yard to the North East corner of the depot which is not used for normal day to day operations.
