He owns and runs the audio postproduction company Ripe Sound, having two 5.1 design studios at the Saul Zaentz Media Center in Berkeley, California and Petaluma, California . Recently, Newell created the Sound Design and was Sound Supervisor for The Wild , an animated feature by Disney Feature Animation, directed by Steve Spaz Williams and starring Kiefer Sutherland and James Belushi . Andy Newell has received 28 Clio Awards for excellence in advertising, 2 Emmy s, Academy Award honors for being on the sound effects editing team on Dracula 1992 film Dracula , directed by Francis Ford Coppola , 2 Silver lions from the Cannes Film Festival , and many more honors over the course of a 25 year career. With an otoscope, it is possible to see the outer ear and middle ear. Otoscopes consist of a handle and a head. The head contains a light source and a simple low power magnifying glass magnifying lens , typically around 8 diopter s. The distal front end of the otoscope has an attachment for disposable plastic ear speculum medical specula . The examiner first straightens the ear canal by pulling on the pinna anatomy pinna and then inserts the ear speculum side of the otoscope into the external ear. It is important to brace the hand holding the otoscope against the patient s head to avoid injury to the ear canal by placing the index finger or little finger against the head. The examiner can then look through a lens on the rear of the instrument and see inside the ear canal.
