Developed in the Seattle area in 2004, the Mobility Education Foundation was established in 2007 to develop and promote the concept in the United States . The rationale behind Mobility Education is that every licensed driver should have skills to get around in multiple modes of transportation and, thereby, will also become a safer and more skilled driver. Typically, driver education courses involve approximately 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction.
