The Science and Encyclopaedia Publishing Centre previously Science and Encyclopaedia Publishing Institute , lang lt Mokslo ir enciklopedij leidybos centras MELC is a Lithuania n publishing house that issues encyclopedias, reference works, books, monographs, and dictionaries. The Institute, headquartered in Vilnius , is supported by the Lithuanian Republic s Ministry of Education and Science Lithuania Ministry of Education and Science . The publishing house was established in 1997, as a reorganisation of Science and Encyclopaedia Publishers. The latter publishing house was founded in 1992 after the merger of Mokslas Publishing with State Encyclopaedia Publishers. The principal goal of the institute is the completion of the 20 volume Universal Lithuanian Encyclopaedia as of 2007, 11 volumes had been completed. It also publishes several specialized encyclopedias, standard and specialized dictionaries, reference books, research monographs focusing on social science, natural science, and technology, scientific works by international authors, and popular science books. Unreferenced date December 2009 George Augustus Simcox 1841 1905 was a British classical scholar and poet. He was a Fellow of Queen s College, Oxford . He was educated at the University of Oxford . He was also a critic and busy literary reviewer, in magazines such as the Argosy , the Fortnightly Review and the Academy and essayist for The Nation . He published some substantial poems, on Arthurian themes in particular. The theological writer and biographer William Henry Simcox was his brother, and the activist Edith Jemima Simcox his sister. The Simcoxes were well known and well connected in English intellectual circles Edith was a friend of George Eliot s , and William wrote the first major biography of Barnabe Barnes , the famous 16th century poet and patron of William Shakespeare . Wilhelm Max M ller, Ph.D. 15 May 1862 July 1919 was an United States Oriental studies orientalist . Biography He was born at Glei enberg , Germany , the son of Friedrich Max M ller and the grandson of German romantic poet Wilhelm M ller . He was educated at University of Erlangen Erlangen , Humboldt University of Berlin Berlin , University of Munich Munich , and University of Leipzig Leipzig , where he received his Ph.D. He was one of the last students of the Egyptologist Georg Ebers . ref cite journal title M LLER, W. He was the son of Samuel Gilman Brown 1813 1885 , president of Hamilton College New York Hamilton College from 1867 to 1881, and the grandson of Francis Brown 1784 1820 Francis Brown , whose removal from the presidency of Dartmouth College and later restoration were incidental to the famous Dartmouth College case . The younger Francis graduated from Dartmouth in 1870 and from the Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York Union Theological Seminary in 1877, and then studied in Berlin . In 1879 he became instructor in biblical philology at the Union Theological Seminary, in 1881 an associate professor of the same subject, and in 1890 Davenport Professor of Hebrew language Hebrew and the cognate Languages.
