It is an Interdisciplinarity interdisciplinary program which has relativity with electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering. Energy minimization is the purpose of this growing discipline. Often applied to building design, heavy consideration is given to HVAC , lighting , refrigeration , to both reduce energy loads and increase efficiency of current systems. Energy Engineering is increasingly seen as a major step forward in meeting Carbon neutrality carbon reduction targets . Energy Technology refers to the knowledge, skills, and equipment required for the production, conversion, transference, distribution, and utilization of energy. This leads to the mastering of technology based on the laws of nature, as a result of which different forms of energy can be used to serve the needs of mankind in such a way that nature is spared and the economic resources of society are taken into consideration. The Energy Technology Engineering Center ETEC , was a government owned, contractor operated complex of industrial facilities located within the convert 2850 acre km2 adj on Santa Susana Field Laboratory SSFL , Ventura County, California . The ETEC specialized in non nuclear testing of components which were designed to transfer heat from a nuclear reactor using liquid metals instead of water or gas. The center operated from 1966 to 1998. The ETEC site has been closed and is now undergoing building removal and environmental remediation by the U.S. Department of Energy .     The optical optics term encircled energy refers to a measure of concentration of energy in an optical image , or projected laser beam laser at a given range. If a single star is brought to its sharpest Focus optics focus by a lens optics lens giving the smallest image possible with that given lens called a point spread function or PSF , calculation of the encircled energy of the resulting image gives the distribution of energy in that PSF. Encircled energy is calculated by first determining the total energy of the PSF over the full image plane, then determining the centroid of the PSF. Circles of increasing radius are then created at that centroid and the PSF energy within each circle is calculated and divided by the total energy. As the circle increases in radius, more of the PSF energy is enclosed, until the circle is sufficiently large to completely contain all the PSF energy. The encircled energy curve thus ranges from zero to one. A typical criterion for encircled energy EE is the radius of the PSF at which either 50 or 80 of the energy is encircled. This is a linear dimension, typically in micrometre micrometer s. When divided by the lens or mirror focal length, this gives the angular size of the PSF, typically expressed in Minute of arc arc seconds when specifying astronomical optical system performance.
