Enlightenment Party of the Joseon hangul , hanja , romanization Gaehwadang was a Korean progressive party founded after the Imo Incident . Other names they were known by include Independence Party of the Joseon, the Innovation Party of the Joseon, and the Reformist Faction. They tried to cut off the submissive relationship Korea had to the Qing Dynasty , they were opposed to what they called the Conservative Party hangul a group supporting Empress Myeongseong Queen Min , and they reformed domestic affairs emulating the Empire of Japan s Meiji Restoration . They were also the organization that tried to found an independent Joseon nation. The central figures of this party were Kim Ok gyun , Hong Yeong sik , Seo Jae pil and Seo Gwang bum . Also the Conservative Party participated in enlightening educational movements, so they were called the Radical Reformist Faction to make a distinction from them. The Enlightenment Party of the Joseon orchestrated the Gapsin Coup after the Sino French War with the promise of advice and support of Takezoe Shinichiro hangul , hanja , the Japanese minister to Korea. Ultimately, the coup d tat was crushed by the Qing army, so Enlightenment Party members like Kim Ok gyun, Park Yeong hyo , Seo Jae pil, and so on sought asylum in Japan. Since 1894, they had organized cabinets three times under Kim Hong jip s leadership, but their politics were partially under Japanese support, indirectly resulting in aiding and abetting Japan s influence. In 1740 Frederick II of Prussia Frederick II , known as Frederick the Great, came to power in the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the rule of the philosophically oriented Frederick II, Berlin gave birth to an intellectual renaissance in which it became one of the most important centers of the Age of Enlightenment Enlightenment in Europe. The city was an important book and press location, as well as the new home of many drama groups. Later, it hosted a National Theatre, the Academy of the Arts and the Academy of Sciences. Central to the Berlin Enlightenment was a learned society of friends known as the Aufkl rer enlighteners , including the publisher and bookseller Friedrich Nicolai , the poet and philosopher Karl Wilhelm Ramler , the philosopher Johann Georg Sulzer , Thomas Abbot , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , and Moses Mendelssohn . They pursued literary and literary interests, often linked with the goal of civil emancipation at the same time, they were loyal and patriotic to the State of Prussia. The union of the civil enlightenment and the state of Prussia and its King bespoke their underlying national goals, and the advancement of German language and literature. This was also hindered by Frederick II s preference for the French language. ZenBuddhism The Song of Enlightenment zh t p Zh ngd o g w Cheng dao ke CJKV j Shodoka k also translated as Song of Awakening and Song of Freedom is a Zen discourse written some time in the first half of the 8th century C.E. and usually attributed to Yongjia Xuanjue . The true authorship of the work is a matter of debate, with a number of elements in the writing suggesting either the text has been substantially changed over time or Yongjia was an unlikely author. The first Literary criticism commentaries appeared in the 11th century during the Song Dynasty . The first English commentary on the work was written by Charles Luk . The Song deals with the methods of and attitudes towards daily Zen practice. A central theme is the contrast between dharma nature, or reality as it is, versus buddha nature , or self nature. It also emphasizes Zazen practice over sutra study. It has been considered a central Zen text from the Song Dynasty to the present day. It was apparently so highly esteemed that Dahui Zonggao reported that it was translated from Chinese to Sanskrit so it could be studied elsewhere. ref name Yen citation last Yen first Shen title The sword of wisdom commentaries on the song of enlightenment publisher Dharma Drum Publishing Corp year 2002 isbn 978 1 55643 428 0 ref Today it is often memorized by Zen practitioners in East Asian countries. ref name Sen citation title Buddhism and Zen last Senzaki first Nyogen last2 McCandless first2 Ruth S. publisher Macmillan year 1988 isbn 978 0 86547 315 7 ref References reflist External links http www.abuddhistlibrary.com Buddhism C 20 20Zen Modern 20Teachers Nyogen 20Senzaki Shodoka 20with 20commentary 20by 20Senzaki 20Roshi Shodoka 201 10.htm The Song of Enlightenment, translated by Nyogen Senzaki with commentary Buddhism topics Category Zen texts ... more details
