He studied medicine at the Berlin Military Academy , and was later a professor at the Universities of University of Halle Halle and University of Bonn Bonn . Hoffmann is remembered for his research performed with zoologist Fritz Schaudinn 1871 1906 at the Charit Clinic in Berlin . In 1905 Schaudinn and Hoffmann discovered the bacterium that was responsible for syphilis , a spiral shaped spirochete called Treponema pallidum . The organism was removed from a papula in the vulva of a patient with secondary syphilis . Erich Hackl born May 26, 1954 in Steyr , Upper Austria is an Austria n novelist and short story writer. His works have been translated into English language English , Spanish language Spanish , French language French and Czech, though he is significantly better known in the German language German speaking world. Many of his works, notably Sara und Sim n , bear resemblance to Latin American testimonial literature, and as such have been the focus of scholarly research by Latin Americanists . His work has also been well received in the UK. Erich Schr ger born 11 November 1958 in Munich is a Germany German psychologist and neuroscientist . Biography Schr ger studied philosophy and psychology at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 1982 he earned a Baccalaureat in Philosophy in 1986 he earned a Diploma in Psychology and in 1991 he was awarded a PhD for his work on Subjective constancy loudness constancy . After a research stay at the Cognitive Brain Research unit of the University of Helsinki Finland and a stint of teaching at the Catholic University of Eichst tt , Schr ger achieved habilitation in psychology in 1996 at the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. The title of his habilitation thesis is, Discovery of changes in repetitive attraction sequences Electrophysiological investigations of auditory data processing . In 1997 Schr ger was appointed to the University of Leipzig as a professor of biological psychology. Since 2001 he has held its Chair of Cognitive and Biological Psychology. Research Schr ger s main fields of research include perception , attention , and memory , mainly in audition .
