    Unreferenced date June 2009 Egin was a Basque people Basque newspaper written in Spanish language and Basque language . It was published from Hernani by Orain SA , which also ran the radio station Egin Irratia . Its first issue was published on September 29, 1977. For many years Egin was accused of being used by the separatist organization Euskadi Ta Askatasuna ETA . In 1994, the Ertzaintza Basque police searched the headquarters of Egin. At dawn on July 14 of 1998, Judge Baltasar Garz n ordered the precautionary closure of both media and the arrest of several of Orain, SA. In August 1999, the judge authorised the reopening of the newspaper, however by then the machinery had been dismantled or was useless by lack of upkeep and the promoters had no funds, since they were being used to pay bails and fines imposed on the defendants, and the newspaper remained closed.
