  1. Allegorical interpretation

Bible related In a biblical context, allegorical interpretation is an approach assuming that the authors of a text e.g., the Bible intended something other than what is literally expressed. The method has its origins in both Greek thought who tried to avoid the literal interpretations of ancient Greek myths and in the Rabbinic literature rabbinical schools of the Land of Israel . Most notably of pre Christian authors Philo of Alexandria expressly refers to its use by his predecessors and uses it himself to discover indications of different doctrines of philosophy in the stories of the Pentateuch. The traces of allegorical and Typology theology typological interpretation can be found later in the New Testament but are further developed in the Epistle of Barnabas and especially by Origen . In the Middle Ages , typology was the dominant Christian allegorical interpretation, which developed sets of correspondences between the Old and New Testaments, believing that the events described in the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament had occurred in order to pre figure events in the life of Christ in the New there were other classes of allegory in the Middle Ages . 1. Heinrich Klee

Heinrich Klee M nstermaifeld , Rhine province , 20 April 1800 &ndash Munich , 28 July 1840 was a German theologian and Biblical exegete who argued against liberal and Rationalist currents in Catholic thought. At the age of seventeen he entered the seminary at Mainz. In 1824, a year after his ordination, he was appointed to the professorship of exegesis and ecclesiastical history in the same seminary, and in the following year also to that of philosophy. In the meantime he obtained the Doctorate of Theology from the University of W rzburg after presenting the thesis Tentamen theologico historicum de chiliasmo primorum saecolurum . In 1829 the government of Baden tendered him the chair of exegesis at Freiburg , vacated by Johann Leonhard Hug , and at the same time the Prussia n authorities offered him a professorship either at Breslau or Bonn . He chose Bonn but his position there was a difficult one. George Hermes and his ideas were strong there, and the presence of Klee, an exponent of orthodox Catholicism, was viewed with disfavour by his Rationalist colleagues. After ten years stay at Bonn, during which he taught dogmatic and moral theology, the history of dogma and exegesis, Klee was induced by the conflict between the Clemens August von Droste Vischering Archbishop von Droste Vichering of Cologne and the Hermesian professors to accept the call to the University of Munich as successor to M in the chair of dogmatic theology and exegesis, but an early death carried him off within a year. 1. Haud-e-Kauthar

Haud e Kauthar tr. The Pond of Abundance refers, in Islamic belief to a metaphysical pond river that is supposed to exist in Jannah Paradise . The traditional Muslim belief is that on Day of Judgement Islam the Day of Judgement , when people will be Resurrection of the dead Islam resurrected , they will rise up in great thirst, and would be eager to quench it in an atmosphere of chaos. At this juncture, Prophet Muhammad would be the one privileged by Allah God to respond to the pleas of believers and quench their thirst by offering them a cool and refreshing drink from the Haud e Kauthar. Origin of the concept The Quran refers to this situation in Al Kauthar Surah Kauthar , although several Mufassir exegetes maintain that the reference in the Sura Surah is to the general abundance granted to the Prophet. ref Tadabbur i Quran by Amin Ahsan Islahi http www.monthly renaissance.com issue content.aspx?id 1091 exegesis available here ref ref http www.monthly renaissance.com issue content.aspx?id 806 3 Exegesis by Javed Ahmad Ghamidi ref In any case, the concept has come to be identified with the special reverence for Prophet Muhammad in comparison to other Prophets of Islam Prophets and Messengers of God . Implications The general implication of the Haud e Kauthar is that it motivates Muslims to be conscious of the Day of Judgement and its severity and accordingly plan for improving their after life. It also motivates them towards love of the Prophet, while promoting the view that the events surrounding the Day of Judgment require belief in the Unseen and are highly metaphysical in nature.
