The term bi quinary indicates that the code comprises both a two state bi and a five state quin ary component. The encoding resembles that used by many abaci, with four beads indicating either 0..4 or 5..9 and another bead indicating which of those ranges. Several human languages, most notably Khmer numerals Khmer and Wolof language Wolof , also use biquinary systems. For example, the Khmer word for 6, pram muoy , literally means five plus one . Decoding To decode the Biquinary code use the number 5043210 . At each digit multiply the biquinary number by the number 5043210. This will give you one decimal digit. For example take the number 0110000. To change this into decimal 5 0 0 1 4 1 3 0 2 0 1 0 0 0 4 Examples Several different representations of bi quinary codeddecimal have been used by different machines. Chinese Character Code for Information Interchange or CCCII is a character set developed specifically to address the problem of interchange of Chinese information. It is used mostly by library libraries because the code contains various properties considered to be desirable by libraries. citation needed date April 2012 CCCII is a superset of ASCII designed to conform to ISO 2022 . Each Chinese character is represented by a 3 byte code in which each byte is 7 bit. Thus, the maximum number of Chinese characters representable in CCCII is 94× 94× 94 830584. In practice the number of characters encodable by CCCII would be less than this number, because variant characters are encoded in related ISO 2022 planes under CCCII, so most of the code points would have to be reserved for variants. The code is adopted as the character set for Library of Congress with the name East Asia Coded Character EACC , ANSI NISO Z39.64 . The Vietnamese Standard Code for Information Interchange VISCII is a character set comprising the Vietnamese alphabet , punctuation , and other grapheme s. Vietnamese requires slightly too many 134 letter diacritic combinations to make a traditional extended ASCII character set for it. There are essentially 3 possible solutions to this. Use a variable width encoding Use combining character combining diacritical marks , as Windows 1258 does Replace something from ASCII VISCII went for the last option, replacing 6 of the least problematic e.g., least likely to be recognised by an application and acted on specially C0 and C1 control codes C0 control codes STX, ENQ, ACK, DC4, EM, and RS with 6 of the least used uppercase letter diacritic combinations. While this may cause issues with some programs in handling VISCII text if they use those control codes, it creates fewer complications than either of the other two solutions. However, it leaves absolutely no space available for things other than accented letters such as symbols, superscripted numbers, curved quotes, proper dashes, etc. It was developed in 1992 by the Vietnamese Standardization Group http www.vnet.org vietstd Viet Std Group from the TriChlor group in California and is officially registered as ISO IR 180. Examples of coded sets include the list of names of airports that is mapped onto a set of corresponding three letter representations of airport names, the list of classes of emission that is mapped onto a set of corresponding standardization standard symbols, and the names of the months of the year mapped onto a set of two numerical digit digit decimal numbers. Numbers are then displayed horizontally Image Binary clock samui moon.jpg thumbnail right Time Technology s Samui Moon binarycoded sexagesimal ...A binary clock is usually a clock which displays traditional sexagesimal time in a binary numeral system binary format. Originally, it showed each decimal digit of sexagesimal time as a binary value, but presently binary clocks also exist which display hours, minutes, and seconds as binary numbers. Most binary clocks are digital , although analog signal analog varieties exist. True binary clocks also exist, which indicate the time by successively halving the day. Thus these clocks do not use hours, minutes, or seconds. Similar clocks, based on Gray code d binary, also exist. Densely packed decimal DPD is a system of Binary coding binary encoding for decimal digits. The traditional system of binary encoding for decimal digits, known as Binarycodeddecimal BCD , uses four bits to encode each digit, resulting in significant wastage of binary data bandwidth since four bits can store 16 states and are being used to store only 10 . Densely Packed Decimal is a more efficient code that packs three digits into 10 bits using a scheme that allows compression from, or expansion ... code now known as Chen Ho encoding which packed three decimal digits into 10 binary bits using a scheme .... This means that arbitrary numbers of decimal digits not just multiples of three digits can be encoded efficiently. For example, 38 12 3 2 decimal digits can be encoded in 12 10 7 127 bits that is, 12 sets of three decimal digits can be encoded using 12 sets of 10 binary bits and the remaining two decimal digits can be encoded using a further 7 binary bits.
