Digital Audio RadioService DARS refers to any type of digital radioservice. In the United States it is the official Federal Communications Commission FCC term for digital radio services. The most popular type of DARS in the United States U.S. and Canada is SDARS Satellite Digital Audio RadioService , operated by XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio Sirius . XM and Sirius both operate in the 2.3 Hertz GHz S band , from 2320 to 2345 Megahertz MHz . In areas with weak signals, such as downtown areas with tall buildings or parking garages which block satellite signals, Terrestrial radio Terrestrial repeater s are installed to re broadcast the signal to ensure continuous coverage. Increasing the spectrum available for more services would be difficult, since unlike C band and Ku band K sub u sub band services, which allow over 200 locations for satellites, S band satellites must be spaced too far apart for current technology. Existing vehicle antennas would not allow reception of two different stations on the same frequency, though new technology, requiring different receivers, might be possible. ref Bruce Elbert, Satellite Radio Accomplishments, Opportunities and Risks, SatMagazine.com , March 2005, http www.applicationstrategy.com satellite radio ATSI.htm, Retrieved on 2008 05 07. ref WorldSpace also operates a DARS network outside of the United States and Canada with a footprint covering Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa using the L band . ref http www.1worldspace.com 1 corporate Worldspace Corporate Information ref See also Digital Audio Digital radio The Digital Audio Broadcasting DAB system, a.k.a. Unreferenced date October 2008 The full serviceradio format consists of a wide range of programming. Mostly found on the AM broadcasting AM band , the format can be found on a handful of FM stations. It is popular mainly among smaller, local stations in rural areas not owned by major broadcasting conglomerates. Programming generally heard on full service stations can include Local and national or top of the hour news, often including agriculture reports At least one local talk show often under a generic name such as Viewpoint , Dialog , or Hotline , occasionally along with syndicated talk programming Music Automated programming in overnight time slots, or even a sign off Tradio , a free advertising service for listeners to offer things for sale High school football and other local sports Significant local advertising Since the full service format is traditionally confined to AM and rural listeners, oldies classic hits , adult standards and classic country tend to form the basis of most music rotations on these stations. Full service stations tend to have somewhat more of a freeform radio format freeform playlist, allowing disc jockeys to play favorite tunes, and as such, album cuts, B sides, forgotten 45s, local bands and lesser known performers and songs can see more air time on a full service station than on most other commercial formats. Depending on the ethnic composition of the station s coverage area and or ownership and management, at least a portion of a full service station s weekend programming is often set aside for ethnic music programming such as polka , Music of Italy Italian music , native American music , or Celtic music , almost always by a local host. Once a child turns 3, an IEP it put into place. This program was created by US Public Law 99 457. sup 1 sup The IFSP is developed with service coordinator for a Part C eligible child and family. The service is available Part C formerly Part H of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act IDEA The IFSP is set up to identify individualized supports and services that will enhance the child s development. The IFSP is usually done at 6 month intervals but can be done more often if necessary. The plan must include an assessment of child s present level of development, a statement of goals, support services that will be put in place to achieve those goals, date services will begin, name and identification of the service coordinator. How an IFSP is different from an IEP An IFSP revolves around the family, since it is the only constant a child has in their life. An IEP strictly revolves around the student, because its their education which is being discussed. The goals that are put into place within an IFSP are target towards the family. Versus an IEP which targets the goals specifically towards the student. An IFSP includes the locations of natural environments, such as home, parks, child care, and gym classes. This focus creates opportunities for learning interventions in everyday routines and activities. An IEP only includes formal, contrived environments such as school.
