Burroughs is a collection of diary entries made by Beat Generation author William S. Burroughs between November 16, 1996 and July 30, 1997, only a few days before his death on August 2 at the age of 83. The collection was first published in hardcover by Grove Press in 2000 and was edited by Burroughs longtime assistant, James Grauerholz . This final collection of writings by Burroughs was transcribed from mostly hand written journal entries that were often difficult to decipher. Burroughs chronicles his thoughts about his approaching mortality, particularly in the wake of the death of his longtime friend Allen Ginsberg on April 5, 1997, and the passing of several beloved pets. He also expresses his feelings about political issues of the day such as the War on Drugs , and mentions being wryly amused at living in one of the cities destroyed by nuclear weapons in the TV movie The Day After 1983 . His final entry describes love as the most natural painkiller what there is. The book concludes with a section of annotations by Grauerholz describing events in Burroughs life at the time of the journal entries, along with explanations for some references and people mentioned in the entries. Several of these journal entries, including his last one, were initially published in a 1998 issue of The New Yorker . 1. Words, Words, Words

for the Bo Burnham comedy album special Words Words Words Unreferenced date November 2010 Words, Words, Words is a short comedic play written by David Ives for All in the Timing . The play is about Kafka, Milton, and Swift, three intelligent chimpanzees who are put in a cage together under the experimenting eye of a Unseen character never seen Dr. Rosenbaum, a scientist testing the hypothesis that three apes hitting keys at random on typewriters for an infinite amount of time will almost surely produce Hamlet a variation on the infinite monkey theorem . The show s title is a reference to a line from Shakespeare s play. The performance comprises the ape characters humorously confronting and conversing with each other in order to understand the purpose of the exercise put upon them. Although clearly a comedy, the ending tone of the play can differ much from production to production, and generally will depend on the actor s and director s interpretation of the Swift character. Swift drives the action, with his rebellion to Dr. Rosenbaum and his experiment, with Milton acting as either a friend or antagonist trying to convince Swift to go along with and use the system. Swift Why are you so god damned ready to justify the ways of Rosenbaum to the apes? The portrayal of Swift is always different, but generally falls into either tragic or comic territory. Famous Places features piano compositions named after locations that have played an important part in Kenniff s life to date. A close miced recording technique accentuates the simplicity and intimacy of Kenniff s melodious musings, and while the piano solo is clearly the medium the Goldmund project is predominantly concerned with, Kenniff frequently adds contextual details to his recordings, setting his keywork among billowy, abstract drones, a few quietly mixed in additional instruments and occasional percussion such as Dane Street . ref http boomkat.com cds 329036 goldmund famous places Goldmund Famous Places review on Boomkat ref Track listing tracklist all writing Keith Kenniff title1 Alberta length1 2 32 title2 Bergen length2 1 56 title3 Bowen length3 1 31 title4 Brown Creek length4 4 27 title5 Conestoga length5 2 38 title6 Dane Street length6 3 10 title7 Edale length7 3 41 title8 Fort McClary length8 3 34 title9 Grass Rides length9 2 39 title10 Havelock length10 3 15 title11 Hope Avenue length11 2 54 title12 Jones Beach Dunes length12 4 20 title13 Pine View length13 1 36 title14 Safe Harbor length14 3 01 title14 Saranac length14 3 21 References Refs External links http www.unseen music.com famous places.html Famous Places at Goldmund Shop http www.discogs.com Goldmund Famous Places release 2407271 Famous Places at Discogs http www.thelineofbestfit.com 2010 08 goldmund E2 80 93 famous places Famous Places review ...   more details
