Central High School served grades 9 12, while Central School served K 8. CHS was build originally in the early 1800s, but became finalized and had was moved to 2nd Ave South in 1921, however the new CHS didn t last long. On the afternoon of April 19th 1966, a teacher holding a study hall with 51 students in the theater heard crackling, and popping the upper story of the school had started on fire. Students were alarmed to know that the evacuation was not a drill, when Dr. Otto Rupert Lupas, announced over the Public Address System that the school was in fact, on fire. After 4 hours of taming the flames, fire fighters went in to inspect the school. It is recorded that the school faced 1 million dollars in damage, however no students or teachers were injured. Several off duty teachers managed to save the 12 file cabinets containing permanent records, and the students continued the school year at Fargo North High School North High School and other locations within the city. In the summer of 66 the Fargo Public Schools Fargo Public School Board granted and approved the beginning construction for what is now Fargo South High School . Today, the only thing that FCH is remembered by is the Cass County Annex, located on 2nd Ave. The Annex serves as part of the court system, however it lies on the grounds which were once Central High School. Unreferenced date December 2009 Osgood was a city in Cass County, NorthDakota Cass County , NorthDakota in the United States . The city was located on the east side of the Sheyenne River , three miles south of West Fargo, NorthDakota West Fargo . Osgood was founded in 1884 as Garfield named in honor of the recently assassinated President James A. Garfield . The name was changed to Osgood , in honor of the landowner who ceded the site to C.C. Furnberg, who located a country store and post office at the town site. The post office and country store ceased operations in 1953. Furnberg s son, Oscar, donated the store to the Cass County Historical Society, where it was restored and put on display at the Bonanzaville, USA pioneer village museum. Today, Osgood is no longer a city. Instead, the general vicinity of Osgood is now an affluent neighborhood of Fargo, NorthDakota , centered around a golf course. The course and neighborhood still bear the Osgood name. Many roads in the neighborhood, such as Fernberg Place and Houkum Court, were named after families who originally lived in the town. Pictures of the former town can be found in the Osgood Golf Course clubhouse and in the Osgood Hornbacher s supermarket.
