Mallow Tralee line Farranfore railway station serves the village of Farranfore in County Kerry . It is the only railway station in Republic of Ireland Ireland that connects with an airport, in this case Kerry Airport , which is located 1.3 km to the north. There are currently late 2010 no signs at the station promoting the footpath link to the airport. Farranfore was formerly the junction station for the branch line to Valencia Harbour once the most westerly station in Ireland. This line closed in 1960. Sections of the N22 have been substantially upgraded in recent years. During the 1980s and 1990s a convert 25 km mi abbr on section between Killarney and the border with County Cork was rebuilt and widened. An auxiliary climbing lane is provided on the steep grade sections. The late 1980s saw a convert 3 km mi abbr on bypass of Killarney. In 2004 the Ballincollig bypass west of Cork city has been completed. This is a convert 11 km mi abbr on dual carriageway road built to Motorway standards that connects with the N25 road N25 Cork South Ring Road . In 2005 convert 4 km mi abbr on of the road between Tralee and Farranfore has been upgraded. This adds to a 4 km section opened in 2002. He was a grandson of John O Donnell of Ardfert, who lived at Tubridmore, and descended from O Donnells of Tyrconnell , following on the implantation of O Donnells in Ardfert by Prince Hugh Roe O Donnell en route to the Battle of Kinsale in 1601, as recorded in the Annals of the Kingdom of Ireland . He wrote poetry as a hobby. He initially farmed a family farm at Tubrid until he left to Ballyhaise, an agricultural college ref Writer recalls Tralee youth , interview with Patrick Denis O Donnell Denis s son , published in The Kerryman , August 15, 1975 ref . He married Hannah Leane, from Ballintobeenig, and they had one child, Patrick Denis O Donnell .
