In cognitive psychology , fastmapping is a hypothesized mental process whereby a new concept can be learned or a new hypothesis formed based only on a single exposure to a given unit of information. Fastmapping is thought by some researchers to be particularly important during language acquisition in young children, and may serve at least in part to explain the prodigious rate at which children gain vocabulary. Mission The mission of the ISIS Mapping Initiative is to help you map your world. The project seeks to empower distant and uncharted areas of the globe with interactive multimedia mapping technology to foster communication, understanding and new spatial representations. Toolkit The current devices in the ISIS Mapping toolkit include the Nokia N95 smartphone, the Nikon Coolpix P6000 digital camera, the Flip Video Mino HD camcorder, and the LaCie Rugged Hard Disk for storage archiving purposes . These recording devices have the capability of taking geotagged media content. Recorded photos and videos will then be layered into Google Earth to create interactive media maps. When a genome is first investigated, this map is nonexistent. The map improves with the scientific progress and is perfect when the genomic DNA sequencing of the species has been completed. During this process, and for the investigation of differences in strain, the fragments are identified by small tags.
