  1. Two-seam fastball

A two seam fastball is a pitch baseball pitch in baseball and a variant of the straight fastball . The pitch has the speed of a fastball, but the general movement of a screwball . Its close relative is the Sinker baseball sinker . Grip and Action There are several different ways to grip a two seam fastball, the most common of which is to place the index and middle fingers along the seams where the two seams are closest together where the horseshoes point in towards each other with the thumb placed directly below on the leather with the rear of the thumb just touching the bottom near seam. The arm action is identical to a four seam fastball, although the hand action differs slightly. 1. Split-finger fastball

File Split finger fastball 1.JPG thumb File Split finger fastball 2.JPG thumb A split finger fastball or splitter is a pitch in baseball . It is named after the technique of putting the index and middle finger on different sides of the ball, or splitting them. When thrown hard, it appears to be a fastball to the batter, but suddenly drops off the table towards home plate that is, it suddenly moves down, towards the batter s knees. It was made famous by Closer baseball closer Bruce Sutter , who would be the first of many pitchers to make it a so called bread and butter or lights out pitch of his repertoire. Sutter stated that while he was in the Chicago Cubs Minor league affiliations Chicago Cubs farm system , a minor league pitching instructor named Fred Martin baseball Fred Martin saw Sutter favoring his elbow. As Sutter was recovering from recent arm surgery, Martin encouraged Sutter to try throwing the split finger pitch, reasoning it would place less duress on his arm. Many give credit to Roger Craig baseball Roger Craig for inventing and perfecting the pitch. The split finger grip is similar to the forkball grip, but the forkball is pushed further back between the fingers and is usually thrown with a wrist flip that makes it slower than the splitter. The split finger is often recommended as an alternative to breaking pitches to young players because of its simplicity and the significantly reduced risk of injury. It is thrown today by many pitchers, including Freddy Garcia , Ryan Dempster , Carl Pavano , Carlos Zambrano , Dan Haren , Rich Harden , Jose Valverde , Jonathan Papelbon , Hiroki Kuroda , Roy Halladay , and Mike Pelfrey . 1. On (band)

ON was a solo project of Ken Andrews , which he started after the breakup of his previous band, Failure band Failure . The music of ON was not unlike that of Failure, in terms of Songwriter songwriting , but the overall sound was more based on Electronic music electronics , with less emphasis on guitar s and the typical Hard rock heavy rock sound. ON was signed to Epic Records in 1999, and the first single, Soluble Words , was released late that year. It contains four versions of the song, including a remix by Martin Gore of Depeche Mode , and an exclusive track called Your Sister Says John written by Andrews friend Jordon Zadorozny of Blinker the Star . After several months, ON s album Shifting Skin was released in June 2000. Ken then assembled a backing band, which consisted of drummer Tim Dow ex Shiner band Shiner Season to Risk , bassist Tommy Walter Abandoned Pools , guitarist Joey Sykes, and keyboardist Kevin Moore, and took ON on tour. Another single, Slingshot , was serviced to radio, but the album didn t sell well, and Epic eventually released Andrews from his contract. A second ON album, Make Believe , was released in 2002 via CD Baby and the iTunes Store . Also in 2002, he and Dow formed a new group called Year of the Rabbit band Year of the Rabbit .
