  1. Lip plumper

Unreferenced date November 2007 Cleanup date November 2007 Lip plumper is a cosmetics product used to make lips appear fuller. In appearance, it ranges from Transparency optics translucent to opaque and tinted. A lip plumper can be formulated to be worn alone as a lip gloss . Sheerer versions can be applied under lipstick . Lip plumpers are used by those with thinner lips when full, pouty lips are desired. These products typically work by irritating the thin, delicate skin of the lips with ingredients like menthol or camphor . This makes the lips swelling swell slightly, which may also diminish the appearance of fine lines in that area. Other perceived benefits include stimulating collagen production and moisturizing. A lip plumper s effects are temporary, so it must be reapplied throughout the day to maintain the results. Lip plumper application The manner in which a lip plumper is applied depends on the cosmetic s formulation and container. When the product comes in a tube, a wand applicator is usually attached to the inside of the cap. A wand applicator consists of a very small, fuzzy piece of foam on a long stem, called a doe foot applicator. Semi solid plumpers, which are applied with fingers or a lipstick brush, may come in small pots. A container with a roller ball permits direct application. MOST lip plumpers plump with cinnamon or cayanne pepper which cause the lips to plump by irritation. Others plump by other form of irritation. Some use ingredients such as Niacin and Retinol which cause the size of the blood vessels to increase, increasing blood flow to the lips. References cosmetics Category Cosmetics ...   more details

  1. Lip Cup

Lip cups are a type of ancient Greek Attica Attic Little Master Cups Little master cups . Lip cups were produced since the middle of the sixth centre BC in Athens . They resemble Gordion Cup Gordion cup s, but their lip or rim was more clearly distinguished from the rest of the body. They had high feet on broad bases. Especially early specimens feature hollow conical feet with walls of even thickness. Image Xenokles1.jpg thumb Attic lip cup with the signature of the potter Xenokles , circa 540 530 BC Antikensammlung Berlin . This cup type was painted on the lip rim. Usually, one to three figures are placed at the centre of the front and back, painted diredctly onto the base clay. Complete mythical scenes were rare. Often, the lip remained completely undecorated. Further decorations were painted in the handle zone. They nearly always included inscriptions between the handle palmette s, as well as a painted strip near the upper edge. Rarely, the palmettes are replaced with animal or human figures. The inscriptions can be of mottos or toasts, or simply be meaningless arrays of letters, suggesting a mostly ornamental function. The cup interior frequently contained circular figural paintings, often surrounded by flame patterns with white dots at the points. In some cases, the lip is decorated with vegetal ornaments rather than figures. It remains unknown why Band Cup Band cups and Lip cups existed side by side for a considerable period. Perhaps, each variant had its own distinctive advantages. For example, it may have been more pleasant to drink from the undecorated black slipped lip of a band cup, while the strong ridge underneath the rim of lip cups would have prevented spilling more effectively. Lip cups were somewhat more difficult to produce.
