The Lalli cousins are often credited as the fathers of the desert strain of stoner rock later made famous by bands such as Kyuss , Fu Manchu band Fu Manchu , and Queens of the Stone Age . While musically similar to some of their stoner brethren, FatsoJetson incorporate a broader variety of musical influences that includes Punk rock punk and surf music surf . Biography FatsoJetson hail from the Palm Desert area, California . Living in the desert, secluded away from the trendy scenes in Los Angeles , Orange County, California Orange County and San Diego , the only places for original music to be played have been pool halls, Mexican restaurants after hours and the occasional struggling bar looking to make some fast cash. On many occasions, the only place for a band to play has been in secluded desert canyons powered by a generator. Then in 1994 , Mario and Larry Lalli opened the desert s first rock club . Bong Load Custom Records is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California Los Angeles which was founded by producers Tom Rothrock , Rob Schnapf and partner Bradshaw Lambert. One of their biggest signings was Beck in 1991. Other notable bands from the original Bong Load Custom Records include Fu Manchu band Fu Manchu , Wool band Wool , Kyuss , Dog Society , The Obsessed , Fatso Jetson and Los Angeles Bands Lutefisk and Project K . In 2007, Rothrock relaunched the label with a series of his own solo recordings of instrumental releases. In 1998, Beck released the album Mutations Beck album Mutations on the Geffen Records Geffen label, which led to a series of lawsuits between Beck, Bong Load and Geffen which were settled in 1999. Much of the Bong Load Record catalog was released in small quantities. Several bands have very rare releases that are much sought after and command high prices at auctions.
