PRF was established as charity in 1979. The foundations primary aims are to carry out research leading to the alleviation of chronic pain. to find improved methods of treating chronic pain. to disseminate the results of such research throughout the world. to work in co operation with the National Health Service NHS and universities to provide post graduate scientific education in chronic pain relief. Background Mexborough was the son of John Savile, 1st Earl of Mexborough , and Sarah n e Delaval . Political career Mexborough succeeded his father in the earldom in 1778. However, as this was an Peerage of Ireland Irish peerage it did not entitle him to a seat in the House of Lords British House of Lords although it did entitle him to a seat in the Irish House of Lords .
