The Flora was published by William Curtis in six large volumes. The descriptions of the plants included hand coloured intaglio printing copperplate prints by botanical artist s such as James Sowerby , Sydenham Edwards and William Kilburn . The full title of the book is Flora Londinensis, or, Plates and descriptions of such plants as grow wild in the environs of London . The first volume was produced in 1777 and the final one, containing a title and an index, was published in 1798. A binary name is given for each species in the survey common and other names are also ascribed for the general reader. The remarkable aspect of the volumes was their accessibility. Previous works on the flora of Britain had been intended for the audience of scientists, apothecaries, and the earlier herbalists. The appealing plates also provided a careful botanical detail which could assist in the identification of a species. The account is closely related to On Breaths in the Hippocratic Corpus . Anonymus Londinensis or Anonymus Londiniensis is the name given to an anonymous Ancient Greek author of approximately the 1st century AD whose work On Medicine lang grc , lang la De Medicina is partially preserved in a papyrus in the British Library PBrLibr inv. 137 P.Lit.Lond. 165 . It ranks as the most important surviving medical papyrus and provides important information about the history of Greek medical thought. On Medicine While only fragments survive of some portions of the text, the papyrus containing the work of Anonymus Londinensis is exceptionally well preserved, with 3.5 meters of the roll largely intact, containing almost 2,000 lines of text in 39 columns. It seems to be an unfinished draft breaking off in mid column autograph in the hand of the author , who compiled, digested, and manipulated various sources as he wrote, so that we may even observe the process of his thinking as he writes. ref D. Its author, Michael Boym , was a Jesuit missionary from Poland at that time Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth . The book was the first description of an ecosystem of the Far East published in Europe. Boym underlined the medicinal properties of the Chinese plants. Interestingly, the book also included pleas for support of the Catholic Chinese emperor and each page contained a chronogram pointing to the date of 1655, the date of coronation of Emperor Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I as the King of Hungary, as Boym wanted to gain support of that monarch for his mission. It is said that the Flora Sinensis was the first book that used the name Flora in this meaning, a book covering the plant world of a region.
