FortuneSmallBusiness FSB was a magazine published ten times each year. The publication was a joint venture by The Fortune Group at Time Inc. and American Express SmallBusiness Services. FSB was delivered to one million smallbusiness owners nationwide. The magazine explored how smallbusiness owners run their companies, what technologies they use and where they spend time out of the office. FSB published lists including the FSB 100 , featuring the fastest growing small public companies, as well as the 100 Best Places to Live and Launch and America s Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs . FSB reserved its December January issue for the annual Next Little Thing package, where it highlighted the companies, trends and entrepreneurs that would make headlines in the year ahead. Popular sections included Small Biz Makeover and Owner s Manual , a column written by entrepreneurs who have overcome challenges in running their enterprises. The magazine was originally called Your Company when it launched in the fall of 1990. The name changed to FSB with the November 1999 issue under Managing Editor Hank Gilman. Over the past few years, however, the most pressing issue for small businesses has been finding a single integrated solution that can manage their office. quote The problem is an architectural framework wasn t really laid out with a vision in mind to fill in the gaps with the appropriate technology. Therefore, instead of using separate software for Contact management system contact management , email management, Document management system document management , project collaboration, telephony , scan and more, they are now looking for a single solution that can manage these communication activities. To meet this demand, the software industry has begun creating such solutions, however, most of them only offer a subset of a fully integrated solution for a small medium business. To date, there have only been a few integrated solutions created that can actually perform all of these features and truly offer a single integrated solution. Essentially, the reason they are fully integrated and offer such rich feature sets is because they are originally designed for a large enterprise company and are then sold at the Small Medium Business level.
