Image Glan foucault.png frame right A Glan Foucault prism deflects p polarized light, transmitting the s polarized component. The optical axis of the prism material is perpendicular to the plane of the diagram. A Glan Foucault prism also called a Glan air prism is a type of prism optics prism which is used as a polarizer . It is similar in construction to a Glan Thompson prism , except that two right angled calcite prisms are spaced with an air gap instead of being cemented together. ref cite book last Bennett first Jean M . editor Bass, Michael, Ed. title Handbook of Optics Volume II edition 2nd ed. year 1995 publisher McGraw Hill isbn 0 07 047974 7 pages 3.11 3.12 chapter Polarizers ref Total internal reflection of p polarization waves polarized light at the air gap means that only s polarized light is transmitted straight through the prism. Compared to the Glan Thompson prism, the Glan Foucault has a narrower acceptance angle over which it will work, but because it uses an air gap rather than cement, much higher irradiance s can be used without damage. The prism can thus be used with laser beams. The prism is also shorter for a given usable aperture than the Glan Thompson design, and the deflection angle of the rejected beam can be made close to 90 , which is sometimes useful. Glan Foucault prisms are not typically used as polarizing beamsplitters because while the transmitted beam is 100 polarized, the reflected beam is not. The Glan Taylor prism is very similar, except that the crystal axes and transmitted polarization direction are orthogonal to the Glan Foucault design. This yields higher transmission, and better polarization of the reflected light. ref name Fan cite ... Wikify date March 2012 Expand Finnish date February 2011 Postseksuaalisuus Postsexualism is understood to mean the French philosopher Michel Foucault s sexual political views ref Foucault, Michel The History of Sexuality , part 1, French Histoire de la sexualit , 1 la volont de savoir ref influenced by consciously artificial life identities, which is characterized by the escape of the confessional structure of sexuality. Postsexual term also refers to a broader effort to exceed the sexual and non sexual boundaries in culture either in theoretical considerations or in social practices. From a postsexual point of view, the division between sexual and non sexual is arbitrary, and it is not possible to measure the authenticity of any kind of interactions between people. Therefore, it is central to the postsexual way of life to escape this division and the associated confessions , or alternatively to criticize this division, and related social confessional rituals by means of irony or parody. Postsexual practices Postgender Association in Finland sought to express the prevailing sexual classifications by questioning practices, for example by introducing new words such as tobaccomonogamy or partial relationship . ref Vainio, Janne March, 1998 . An example of such an internationally widespread reformation is the term queer heterosexual, which means heterosexual preferences of any person with a political queer identity and who perceive their sexual heterosexuality in a spirit of one of the perversion among many others. Homovestism questions the naturalness of heterosexual normativity. Homovestism refers to a particular sexual preference to same sex clothing, as opposed to cross dressing. Homovestit ... more details

Several vector geometric vector diagrams are often used to demonstrate the physics underlying the Foucault pendulum . Diagrams are provided to illustrate a pendulum located at the North Pole , equator , and 45th parallel north 45 degrees N to show how the rotation of Earth in relation to the pendulum is observed, or not, at these locations. This is not a rigorous evaluation but is intended to convey information regarding the interaction of the two moving objects, the swinging pendulum and the rotating Earth. One of the great insights by L on Foucault is that the time to observe a full rotation of the Earth increased by the inverse of the sine of the latitude. In the examples, the pendulums are of great size to aid in the visualization of the pendulum swing in relation to the Earth shown as blue circles . The pendulum is drawn so that 90 degrees of pendulum arc sweeps out 90 degrees of arc on the surface of the Earth. Views from the side, the front, and above right, center, left are provided to aid in the interpretation of the diagrams and arrows are provided to show the direction of the Earth s rotation. The schematic at the bottom of the each figure represents the range of swing of the pendulum as viewed from above and normalized to a standard orientation. The smaller arrows depict the magnitude of the relative velocity vector for the point on the Earth s surface in line with the pendulum bob projected to the center of the Earth the magnitude is shown since the scematic is two ...
