File Harmonies du Soir.png thumb 360px The first three bars of the Transcendental tude No. 11 Transcendental tude No. 11 in D flat, Harmonies du Soir is the eleventh tude of the set of twelve Transcendental tudes by Franz Liszt . This tude is a study in harmonies, Arpeggio broken chords played in quick succession, full octave jumps, Diatonic and chromatic chromatic harmonies, chord variations, especially proper pedaling, and performance as a whole. This piece is considered one of the most artistic of the tudes, along with Transcendental tude No. 12 Liszt No. 12 Chasse neige . Innovations Experiments in tonal ambiguity and impressionistic sonorities mark this as a forward looking work. Origin Harmonies du Soir was rooted from the Transcendental tude No. 7 Liszt seventh of the tudes in Twelve Exercises, which was a study in alternating hands. File Eroica.png thumb 360px The first two bars of the Transcendental tude No. 7 Transcendental tude No. 7 in E flat, Eroica is the seventh of the twelve Transcendental tudes by Franz Liszt . It is a study of rapid downward runs, bravura and octaves at the end . In a customary manner of Liszt, the piece begins with some sharp notes and fast descending scales. The heroic theme is then introduced. The piece becomes more chaotic and finally erupts in difficult octave Arpeggio arpeggiations . It ends with a final restatement of the Theme music theme . The material is not very difficult in comparison to the other tude s. 1. Piano Concerto No. 3 (Liszt)

Franz Liszt s Piano Concerto No. 3 in E flat major Op. posth. List of compositions by Franz Liszt S.1 S.350 S.125a , was possibly composed in 1839. It is said that this piece was composed before the first two concertos, but the date is inconclusive as there are claims it was not finished until 1847. Like his Piano Concerto No. 2 Liszt second piano concerto , it is a one movement piece. It was virtually unknown until 1989. It was identified and assembled from multiple sources by Jay Rosenblatt , a doctoral candidate at the University of Chicago . Parts of the score were located in Weimar , Nuremberg and Saint Petersburg Leningrad , and to the extent they were known at all, it had been assumed they were early drafts of Liszt s Piano Concerto No. 1 Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 , also in E flat major. Liszt made no mention of this third concerto in his writings, so the existence of the piece was unknown to researchers. When Liszt died, his housekeeper let his pupils go through the house and take away manuscripts as mementos. These were not always complete scores. The Nuremberg sheet came from Max Erdmannsd rfer , who came into contact with Liszt while he was kapellmeister at Sondershausen . In 1882 he became kapellmeister in Moscow. It is possible that he had the whole score and that part of it eventually found its way to the Leningrad library after his death. The 1837 version of this piece is in sonata form , with a first subject in C minor, second subject in E flat major, and a recapitulation of the first subject. It is Sonata form Monothematic expositions monothematic the second subject material is derived from the first subject material . Liszt removed the final recapitulation of the first subject in the 1851 version of the piece, along with an extended bravura passage preceding it. The piece starts with a furious quick main theme, left hand playing the melody in octaves and the right hand playing the same melody one octave higher alternatively. Then followed with chords. The furious main theme flows, until a new theme is introduced. The secondary theme has a playful melody. When actually played at the original speed that Liszt indicated Presto furioso , or fast and furious at around 4 and a half minutes , the piece quickly becomes formidable. Wide jumps in the beginning span about three octaves in the right hand. The lyrical middle section involves some difficult left hand jumps rapidly spanning over two octaves. The ending involves a difficult section of octave jumps in the right hand spanning three octaves. The piece ends in a flurry of relatively easy descending chords. multi listen start col start multi listen item filename Wild hunt.ogg title Transcendental Etude Wild Hunt description Performed by Giorgi Latsabidze format Ogg multi listen end External links IMSLP2 id Transcendental Etudes 2C S.139 28Liszt 2C Franz 29 cname Transcendental tudes classical composition stub Liszt transcendental tudes Category tudes by Franz Liszt Transcendental 08 pt Estudo Transcendental N 8 ...   more details
