In the Sammarinese parliamentary election, 2008 2008 general election the party ran in list with the larger Party of Socialists and Democrats , within the Reforms and Freedom coalition which won 25 seats out of 60 in the Grand and General Council gaining 45.78 of the national vote but failed to gain a governmental majority and as a result the Sammarinese for Freedom party which itself gained a few seats out of the 25 the coalition gained and a few out of running as part of the list of the Party of Socialists and Democrats which gained 31.96 of the national vote and 18 seats, and which by itself gained a tiny percentage of the national vote, as part of the coalition, is now part of the official opposition to the new government of the right wing coalition of Pact for San Marino. Confusing date October 2007 Development as Freedom is a book focused on international development written by economist Amartya Sen . Background Amartya Sen posits that all individuals are endowed with a certain set of Capability approach capabilities while it is simply a matter of realising these capabilities that will allow a person to escape from poverty and their state of unfreedom . Sen questions a fundamental assumption of development economics , arguing that income poverty should not be the single most important factor in determining development. Sen argues that in spite of a world of sheer abundance, there simultaneously exist populations living in a state of unfreedom , unable to realise their capabilities. Sen attempts to expand the basic interpretations of freedom by examining five elemental forms of instrumental freedoms political freedoms, economic facilities, social opportunities, transparency guarantees, and protective security. These forms of freedom are complementary, remaining interrelated and inextricable. For Sen, these freedoms constitute not only the means, but also the ends in development. Poverty, Sen asserts, should be seen as a deprivation of basic capabilities, rather than merely as low income Sen, 1999 , contesting the general belief amongst economists who view income as the be all and end all of development. He was praised by the Nobel Committee Prize Committee for bringing an ethical dimension to a field recently dominated by technical specialists. Humanitarian political is a term that refers to an ideology that advocates a political standpoint based on a humanitarian perspective. The standpoint that come out of this ideology is constructed upon the conviction that every human being must have the right to freedom of speech freedom of press freedom of assembly freedom to information freedom to demonstrate freedom of establishing organisations and freedom of religion . The core of the humaniatarian political point of view is that these liberties are fundamental necessities in order for people to be able to influence political decisions and to shape their society and destiny. There are many humanitarian organisations all over the world that advocate these liberties and in their work strive for a world where they can be implemented. However none of them make any rigorous standpoints in the political arena as they concentrate their efforts on basic humanitarian issues. A humanitarian political organisation on the other hand does sufficient work in both fields and puts these together in order to make as big a difference as possible. Organisations The first organisation that introduced the concept of humanitarian policy was Initiative for democracy in Iran Initiative iran , a non profit organisation that was established in Stockholm Sweden in September 2006.
