The Apostolic Intervention were a United Kingdom British rock music rock band in the mid 1960s, who are best known for their 1967 single music single Tell Me Have You Ever Seen Me . The band originally formed in Hertfordshire in Late 1965 as The Little People , and comprised Angus Shirley lead guitar , Dino Dines Peter Dino Dines organ, vocals , Bob Argent bass , and Angus younger brother Jerry Shirley drums . They began by playing cover version covers of United States American R&B records, and emulated the music of their heroes, The Small Faces . After they supported the latter band on a local bill, Steve Marriott became their mentor, and persuaded Andrew Loog Oldham of Immediate Records to sign them in early 1967. SAIL , Storybook Activities for Improving Literacy, was an intervention where Head Start Program Head Start teachers were trained to use storybook reading to improve the literacy skills, particularly vocabulary skills, of preschool children. All of the children were enrolled in Head Start classrooms in Lane County, Oregon Lane County , Oregon who were also participants in Project STAR a larger study conducted by the University of Oregon . The intervention included activities that targeted vocabulary , comprehension, and narrative ability. It was conducted for 20 minutes a day, approximately four days a week for eight weeks. The trained teachers were instructed to read assigned storybooks to their classrooms for the allotted period of time. The storybooks used in the intervention were age appropriate , had numerous distinct sequence events, and varied vocabulary. Three vocabulary words were assigned per book to be introduced to the preschoolers that were related to the story and likely to be unfamiliar words. Some examples of selected words were ukulele, magician, optometrist, flashlight, crane, and restaurant. Activities were planned for all four days the book was assigned. Day One Introduction to the author, children had the opportunity to predict the events of the story based on the cover of the book. The teacher read the story, pausing to define assigned vocabulary words. At the conclusion of the story the teachers asked comprehension questions. The Thirty Years War The Swedish Intervention was a period in the broader conflict in the Thirty Years War that took place between a coalition of powers aligned initially along Catholic or Protestant lines. The Roman Catholic States led by the Catholic Habsburg Imperial family sought to tighten its grip on the Holy Roman Empire , and gain formal in addition to retaining its de jure control over the Empire, which it had by and large secured by this point, albeit still on risky foundations. The political structure of the Holy Roman Empire ensured they would never seize this as a hereditary right unless the political structure of Germany was altered. They sought to do this by suppressing the practice of the Protestant branch of Christianity in north Germany, and reseating the Protestant potentates in the Empire with Catholic ones. This was because of the fact that election to the Holy Roman Empire was divided between a number of princelings who were of both the Protestant and Catholic faith. They simultaneously seized Protestant places of worship and started to roll back many of the religious compromises that had previously been arranged in order to preserve religious stability within the empire. This would afford them the opportunity to alter the political structure of the Holy Roman Empire via its legislative body. The Protestant powers were fighting to preserve their religious freedom, and simultaneously preserve their political autonomy from the Habsburgs.
