Unreferenced date October 2007 Original research date October 2007 Slope side is a term used in the North America n skiing ski lodging industry to describe any accommodation from which one can reasonably walk to the ski lifts. Such lodgings are usually at the bottom of, or right beside, the ski hill hence the term slope side . Due to their proximity to the lifts, and their desirability, slope side units are usually more expensive than off hill units. Slope side accommodation is desirable for a number of reasons, mainly Driving and parking a car at many ski resorts is inconvenient and time consuming. By being slope side, it is possible to avoid the inconvenience and have quicker access to the ski hill. Skiers staying in slope side lodgings can return to their rooms more easily for a break, or, with kitchen equipped lodging, to cook and eat lunch. Those who have finished skiing for the day may return easily without disrupting those who may have accompanied them. Some resorts, such as Mont Tremblant Resort Mont Tremblant in Quebec , Sun Peaks Resort and Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia , feature pedestrian villages at the base of their mountains. Lodgings within these villages are considered slope side by the resorts, as the lifts are within walking distance of each unit. Plot Janice Vernon Karen is married to traveling salesman Nelson Richard Masur , and has a son with special needs. The couple are experiencing severe financial hardships, and Janice lists her home for sale by Karen s Gordon s realty firm. When her house doesn t sell, Karen offers Janice a way to make money become a prostitute. Janice feels she can t do it, but eventually the need for money overcomes her feelings and she begins working as an escort for Karen. Michelle Jamison Jamie Lee is a highly educated secretary that likes the thrill of hooking. She sees it as being in control. Her estranged husband has a drinking problem, and she uses some of the money she earns as a prostitute to fix her car after her husband wrecks it while driving drunk. Annie Gilson Linda Purl is studying for her real estate license with Karen Gordon, and is also saving her money to buy a house.
