In 1929, he attained the rank of vice admiral, and took command of the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal . Fujita became Navy Vice Minister in 1932, and Commander in Chief of Kure Naval District in 1936. He retired as a Navy Admiral in 1937. In 1943, Fujita became Director of the Meiji Shrine . He subsequently served as Chamberlain of Japan Grand Chamberlain from August 29, 1944 to May 3, 1946.
