Naples, Biblioteca Vittorio Emanuele III, MS 1 B 18 is a fragment of 5th century Biblical manuscript manuscript of the Old Testament written in uncials in the Sahidic dialect of the Coptic language . The manuscript has only 8 surviving folios and includes the text from Book of Job Job 40 8 to Book of Proverbs Proverbs 3 19. On folio 4 verso there is a large pen drawing illustrating Job Biblical figure Job and his daughters. Job is pictured as a bearded man wearing a Crown headgear crown and short tunic . His daughters wear tunics with jewels and diadems. The iconography of Job is very different in this manuscript from that in later centuries. Here he is seen as royal figure while in later portrayals he is seen as humbled and sitting on a dung heap. This miniature, although was not executed by a skilled hand provides an important example of Copic art in the period of transition from the Hellenistic civilization Hellenistic tradition to a more linear, abstract style. The manuscript was part of a collection of Coptic manuscripts made by Cardinal Stefano Borgia 1731 1804 and was included in the Museo Borgio in Velletri . It is located directly across from the Teatro di San Carlo San Carlo opera house. It was built between 1887 1891, and was the cornerstone in the decades long rebuilding of Naples called the risanamento lit. making healthy again that lasted until World War I . It was designed by Emanuele Rocco , who employed modern architectural elements reminiscent of the GalleriaVittorioEmanueleII in Milan . The Galleria was named for Umberto I , King of Italy at the time of construction. It was meant to combine businesses, shops, cafes and social life public space with private space in the apartments on the third floor. The Galleria is a high and spacious cross shaped affair surmounted by a glass dome braced by 16 metal ribs. Of the four glass vaulted wings, one fronts on via Toledo via Roma , still the main downtown thoroughfare, and another opens onto the San Carlo Theater. It has returned to being an active center of Neapolitan civic life after years of decay. He was born in Pisa , the son of Iacopo I Appiani , and followed his brother Gherardo Appiani Gherardo to Piombino when he became lord of the Tuscany Tuscan city. When Gherardo died, he remained in the court but the lordship was inherited by his son Iacopo II Appiani Iacopo II , under the tutorage his mother Paola Colonna . When Iacopo II died, despite Emanuele was the last living Appiani male, she kept the seigniory, thanks to the support of her son in law, the condottiero Rinaldo Orsini . When Paola died, the latter inherited the title under his daughter Caterina Appiani . In reply Emanuele married in 1445 to Colia de Giudici, illegitimate daughter of King Alfonso V of Aragon Alfonso V of Naples , who marched to Piombino with an army. Orsini died of plague, followed soon afterwards by Caterina, and Emanuele could enter Piombino in 1452 after being elected lord by the city s Elders.
