The Gaming Industry Report Magazine was shut down in 2006. But then in 2007 JEMS Media Group had plans to relaunch the publication in 2007 as a video game newspaper instead of a magazine. GIR is also planned to go from being a printed publication to being a digital electronic magazine. The Gaming Industry Report is currently being run by Jeremy Meyer who holds the position of publisher and editor in chief. Gaming Industry Report magazine covers all aspects of the business of the video game industry in the US, regulation, technology, finance, and journalism. GIR is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive weekly analysis on the business of video games, and offers a forum for industry debate and criticism of the medium. Announced in Journal of the Travellers Aid Society No. 22, the new at the time unnamed magazine was going to expand JTAS to a larger format 8.5 11 and add coverage of GDW s new game Twilight 2000 and other games. The larger size would allow printing of things such as deck plans or sector maps which would not fit in the smaller JTAS format. In order to maintain continuity for the Traveller rpg Traveller fans and JTAS subscribers the first issue was numbered 25, rather than starting again with issue 1. Also to maintain continuity, Challenge featured a separate section labeled Journal of the Travellers Aid , which lasted through issue 28.
