Garth Dawley born 1933 is most known for reading the news on CBWT s supper hour news program 24Hours from October 5, 1970 1983. Prior to his role at 24Hours he was co hosted the local morning show on CBW AM CBW AM in the 1960s. At the age of 19, he became station announcer at Brandon s CKXA FM CKX AM in 1952, and was one of the station s first reporters when it added a local news division in 1954. He also worked at Brandon s television station CKX TV when it opened in 1955. He also worked at Regina, Saskatchewan Regina television station CKCK TV . Garth began his career in film and television as a young actor, being nominated for an ACTRA Award ACTRA award now known as the Jenie awards? for his work in In The Fall . As a teenager he performed five years on the CTV series LET S GO . By the time his various Burger King burger king commercials went international and had guest starred on shows such as My Secret Identity and Forever Knight he was a household face in Canada. In 1996 Dyke graduated from Vancouver Film School and followed that with his first short Drama film dramatic film Paper Scissors , shot in South Korea . Garth was then contracted by RealWorld Media Inc. for six years as Creative Director where he wrote, directed and edited over a hundred television, video and interactive projects distributed around the world into dozens of languages. He received critical acclaim for his work as director on an 8 spot Television advertisement TV commercial series for the Workers compensation Workers Compensation Board and for his role as director on Television pilot the pilot episode , and co developer of the Home repair home maintenance series Closer To Home now airing nationally across Canada on APTN. Garth became an award winning producer after working for two years with Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting now CanWest Mediaworks Inc. in Toronto, Ontario. Garth Meade b. 1930 Johannesburg , South Africa was a comedian and actor active in Australia from 1970. He had studied classical guitar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Guildhall , London. His performing career included tours to many major cities in the UK and Ireland. Meade and his South African actor wife Elaine Lee actor Elaine Lee emigrated to Australia in 1970, in a bid to further his career. Meade performed regularly on the Sydney club circuit and in cabaret.
