  1. Falls bagging

Orphan date February 2009 Falls bagging or waterfall bagging is a hobby amongst bushwalker s and to some extent people that are involved in Geocaching , who seek out waterfall s. It is a blossoming hobby in the same vein as peak bagging . Some consider it a game , others just a personal challenge. Falls baggers are constantly in search of a new, little known set of waterfalls. To properly bag a waterfall, the bagger must visit it personally and take a photograph of it. The photograph is optional, as the act of falls bagging is generally a purely personal competition, but a photograph helps to share your experience with others. To truly be a Falls Bagger, one must be diligent enough to have visited over 100 waterfalls. It may take sometimes risking their life, trespassing on private property, breaking traffic laws, and obsessing to the point of memorizing directions. Wooden Nickel United States coin nickel s were most commonly issued in the U.S. in the 1930s, after the Great Depression . It was during this decade that some banks and chambers of commerce in the United States issued wooden nickels with expiration dates to mitigate difficulties faced by merchants in making change at times of instability. Common views published on the Internet concerning the origin of the wooden nickel are patently incomplete, often making it an innovation of this late date that arose in response to such banking difficulties. Commemorative nickels are then supposed to be an outgrowth of these legitimate wooden nickels. However, collectible wooden nickels have been mentioned in print since at least 1888. ref http books.google.com books?vid 0NPWwXdtr2GkQKzsu5&id P oMAAAAIAAJ&q 22wooden nickels 22 date 0 1940&dq 22wooden nickels 22 date 0 1940&pgis 1 The Numismatist ref In more recent times wooden nickel trading has become more popular. 1. Geotrekking

Orphan date February 2009 Advert date December 2007 Geotrekking is a term that describes the activity of recreational navigation with the aid of a GPS Global Positioning System . A brief history in the US Since the removal of the Selective Availability restrictions on GPS systems by former President Bill Clinton on midnight, May 1st, 2000, the accuracy of consumer grade GPS systems went from approximately 100 meters 330 ft to approximately 20 meters 66 feet , or less depending on the quality of signal that the GPS unit received and the number of satellites that it could see . This allowed the general public overnight to use the GPS systems that they had already purchased to locate their position on Earth with far greater accuracy that was previously allowed by the Federal Government. The birth of a new community The benefit to people who enjoyed outdoors activities like hiking and biking was that it allowed them to not only know where they were at with a much greater degree of certainty, but it also gave them the ability to record their routes, since the increase in accuracy made it possible to retrace their steps. They connected their GPS systems to their computers at home and started to share their routes with other people over the Internet. The term Geotrekking grew organically from the community of people who were using their GPS systems to share routes, to share the locations of points of interest, and to share the locations of geocaches see Geocaching a sort of a GPS based treasure hunt . The commercial angle Geotrekking has given rise to new avenues of commerce as well. Companies are designing tourism and travel packages around the Geotrekking concept, selling and renting GPS equipment, and offering vetted waypoint maps as travel aids.
