He was appointed to the position by C cilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore . Sir George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore had founded the colony and acted as its governor and Cecil Calvert had managed the colony after his father s death but since he was occupied with the Province of Maryland appointed Hill as governor in his stead. Hill remained in the colony, living in Lord Baltimore s house, until the arrival of Sir David Kirke in 1638. Kirke had been granted a Royal Charter over all of Newfoundland and forced Hill to vacate the house and move across the harbour where he stayed until his death. George Frederick Hill born February 1832 was a lawyer , merchant and political figure in New Brunswick . He represented Charlotte County, New Brunswick Charlotte County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1865 to 1866, from 1879 to 1882 and from 1892 to 1899 as a Liberal Party of New Brunswick Liberal member. He was born in Saint Stephen, New Brunswick , the son of George S. Hill, who had previously served in the provincial assembly . He studied law and was admitted to practice as an attorney in 1854. Hill entered business as a merchant later that same year. He opposed Canadian Confederation Confederation . He was the official assignee in bankruptcy for the county from 1869 to 1878. He was named to the Legislative Council of New Brunswick Legislative Council in 1882. Hill was named speaker for the council in 1887. He remained a member of the council until it was abolished in 1892. Hill was a member of the general superintendency of the LDS Church Sunday School from 1934 to 1966. Hill was born in Ogden, Utah Ogden , Utah Territory and was raised on a farm in Springville, Utah . Hill obtained a B.S. degree from Brigham Young University in 1907, a B.S.A. degree from the Utah State Agricultural College in 1908, and a Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1912. After his graduation from Cornell, Hill became the director of the School of Agriculture at Utah State University . From 1926 to 1935, Hill was a member of the general board of the LDS Church s Young Men s Mutual Improvement Association . He had also become a member of the general board of the Deseret Sunday School Union in 1925. In 1934, he became the second assistant to George D.
