Git Gay was born Birgit Agda Holmberg in 1921 in Karlshamn , Sweden . Her parents wanted her to become a concerto pianist and sent her to the Music Conservatory in Malm . However, in the end of the 1940s, she was invited to act as a prima donna in a summer revue by director Sigge Holmberg . The following year, she performed at the Gr na Lund in Stockholm in the revue Klart Gr nan . In 1949, she was hired by the entertainer Karl Gerhard to participate in the revue D r de stora torskarna g r in Gothenburg . It was the first song written by Micky Dolenz to be commercially released, and ended up a top 5 hit in the UK where it was retitled Alternate Title after the record company RCA complained that the title was actually somewhat taboo to the British audience horny kid from Liverpool . The song according to Dolenz, was written about a party The Beatles threw for the Monkees in the UK. There are references in the song about the Beatles The four kings of EMI and the song is actually played by all four Monkees with Dolenz on drums percussion, Jones percussion, Nesmith on guitar, Tork on piano, and producer Chip Douglas The Turtles picking up bass guitar duties. The song also appeared on The Monkees TV series The Monkees TV series, on their album Headquarters album Headquarters , and on several Greatest Hits albums.
