    Giuseppe Zimbalo 1617 1710 was an Italy Italian architect and sculptor. Known as the Zingarello Tiny wikt gypsy Gypsy , he was one of the most prominent artists in the so called Baroque architecture Baroque of Lecce , his hometown in southern Italy. Here he designed part of the fa ade of the Basilica of Santa Croce, Lecce Basilica of Santa Croce and the Celestine palace, finished the Lecce Cathedral Duomo 1651 1682 he designed in particular the tall bell tower and sculpted the column of Sant Oronzo 1666 . A native of Florence , he received numerous commissions from the city s upper bourgeoisie for renovations of palaces and gardens. From 1864 he designed the city s urban renovation, which included the demolition of the walls, the creation of alleys in place of them and of several scenographic squares Piazza Beccaria, Piazza della Libert . Donate was born in Budrio . Legend has it that he created his first little goose ocarina in Italian dialect in 1853, aged 17, whilst still working as a brickmaker. His first ocarina making workshop was in his hometown of Budrio . When he moved to larger premises in Bologna in 1878, a fellow musician of the Gruppo Ocarinistico, Cesare Vicinelli , continued the Budrio workshop. He died, aged 88, in Milan .
