It was founded in Menlo Park, California on June 11, 2005 by Mike Yang, former University of California, Berkeley UC Berkeley coach and nationally ranked player who has won over seventy championship titles. GGBC has hosted many of the biggest tournaments in Northern California , including some national ranking tournaments. Players in the tournaments have included world champions such as Howard Bach , Tony Gunawan , and Halim Haryanto . On October 9, 2007, a second branch of the club, with 8 courts, was opened in Emeryville, California . On March 1, 2010, the Emeryville location was sold and is now renamed Eastbay Badminton Association.
