Unreferenced date April 2010 Orphan date April 2010 The Tarime Goodwill Foundation TGF was started by Dr. Hudson Winani M.D. to address the unmet health needs of the Tarime District in the Mara Region of Tanzania . Most of the population of Tarime lives in rural areas where poverty is visible in all its many forms lack of access to health care and education, malnutrition, and lack of access to transportation. Only 30 40 of children in the district have access to immunisations. There are only two hospitals in the district, serving a population of some 480,000 people. The government run Bomani Hospital has five or six doctors, most of who are trained in Dar es Salaam . The other hospital is the Tarime Goodwill Hospital, set up by Dr. Winani and operated by himself and one nurse. The mission of the Tarime Goodwill Foundation and its Health Services program is to provide comprehensive, curative, and preventative community based medical health and education in Tarime District. The Tarime Goodwill Hospital has 34 beds, an out patient and casualty department and two dispensaries. The TGF Health Services program treats 120,000 people each year. Malaria , upper respiratory infections, gastroenteritis and HIV AIDS are the most prevalent health conditions being treated. TGF provides free service to orphans, poor families, disadvantaged individuals and groups, and HIV AIDS patients. TGF receives assistance from the Peter Hewitt Care for Africa Foundation in Australia, Direct Relief International based in California U.S.A., and other international aid organisations. Goodwill Shoe Company also known as Arthur A. Williams Shoes after its founder specialized in leather shoes and steel toe boots steel toe Safety First boots . Among on of the earlier companies to produce such products at the time, it was one of the largest companies in manufacturing industrial boots by the 1930s. The company became bankrupt sometime in the mid 20th century. Built in 1909, the Goodwill Shoe Company factory resides on 26 28 Water Street, in Holliston, Massachusetts today. This is a landmark example of a large show factory built at the peak of the shoe industry production, for the manufacture of heavy footwear for farmers and sportsmen. The two wood frame buildings are located at either side of Water Street, and were originally connected by a second story bridge above the street. As well as an existing tunnel that exists beneath the pavement. The building on the east side of the street is 4 stories high with a slate roofed tower and is approximately 190 feet long the building to the west is three stories in height and approximately 100 feet in length. Three Eastern bloc countries Bulgaria , East Germany and Romania were the only other nations to win more than two medals. Alexander s Goodwill Court was a popular human interest radio program of the mid 1930s that broadcast for over a year, sponsored by Chase & Sanborn Coffee Company Chase & Sanborn Coffee . In 1936, it was ranked among the top ten radio programs. Defendants in real court cases told their stories and host A.L. Alexander stepped in to offer legal advice. The series premiered March 31, 1935 on WMCA in New York. The show moved to NBC September 20, 1936, airing as an hour long show on Sundays at 8pm. As many as 15 cases would be heard during a single program. After the New York State Lawyers Association objected, the New York City Supreme Court ruled that lawyers could not give counsel on radio programs. This brought an end to the series, which aired its final episode on December 20, 1936. Alexander had more success and a longer run when he returned to the air with A.L. Alexander s Mediation Board , another series dispensing advice to people with problems but minus the legal aspect.
